Downers Grove Park District Seasonal Park Maintenance
The Opportunity: We are accepting applications for Seasonal Park Maintenance team members. With 48 parks located throughout Downers Grove the District is seeking enthusiastic individuals to help maintain improve and beautify our parks. As a seasonal member of the Parks Maintenance team you will help maintain our outdoor community spaces including natural areas recreational fields and special facilities. The Parks Maintenance Team offers many opportunities including turf care ballfield maintenance and general facility maintenance to name a few. Multiple positions are available.
When You Will Work: Work hours are typically Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Actual work hours can range from 16 to 40 hours per week from April to end of November based on District needs. Some weekend duties are available and are assigned on a rotating basis ask for more information.
Pay Rate: Starting at $16.00/hr. for newly hired staff and $16.50/hr. for returning staff. Benefits: Successful applicants can receive a Free fitness membership at 4500 Fitness while employed.
A Typical Day in the Life: - You will perform skilled labor at District parks and facilities including open spaces paths natural areas structures buildings parking lots and special facilities.
- Cares for trees shrubs flowers and lawns and other natural resources.
- Assists with ongoing parks maintenance installations repairs and projects.
- Operates District owned equipment including power tools and mowers.
- Maintains professional and effective communication between staff and patrons.
- Follows Districts Safety Policies to ensure the safety of program participants.
- Other duties as assigned (job may be changed as necessary)
About You: - Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid Class D Drivers License
- Must be able to move 50 pounds
- Familiarity with small engines mowers and power tools preferred
- Must be able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
