Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Maintenance
Location: North Haven
Company Overview: Through its three divisions Client is a leading manufacturer in the heating industry (oil gas and biofuel burners safety controls used in residential commercial and industrial heating) as well as extruded plastic products (for automotive applications medical applications and more). Located in North Haven Connecticut in a modern 220000 sq. foot facility housing our factory laboratory and office space. Clients divisions maintain leadership roles in the industries they serve.
Summary: The Facility Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders troubleshooting and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the production equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Mechanic must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs highly diversified duties to repair machinery and equipment
Maintain machinery and equipment; participates in all phases of maintenance operations.
Must be able to trouble shoot electrical and pneumatic machinery
Complies with and enforces safety rules and regulations and maintenance of good housekeeping practices.
Diagnose and remedy problems in production equipment; tear down repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble.
Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain equipment supplies; perform preventive maintenance; call for repairs.
Repair or replace pneumatic and hydraulic valves oil and grease machines and perform other machining operations.
Make and install machinery.
Make repairs to water steam air and plumbing lines make installation and repairs requiring carpentry skills.
Maintain safe secure and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards policies and codes alerting others regarding potential concerns.
Detect and report faulty operations defective material and unusual conditions.
Ability to thread pipe and bend conduit.
Forklift/powered truck experience desirable (will train right individual)
Occasional remedial housekeeping duties may be required
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
An energetic individual with a strong work ethic and positive attitude is desired.
Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Desired Qualifications:
Communication Skills:
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills particularly in English. While Spanish language skills are a plus they are not mandatory for this position.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles.
