Job Description
General Purpose
Director designs facilitates and oversees Summer Day Camp enrichment activities along with program counselors for youth living at one of four Burlington area dropin Recreation & Nutrition sites located in lowincome housing communities. Site staff coordinate with other BPRW and Burlington School Food Project staff in order to conduct free lunch and/or dinner service to area youth as part of the program. The Recreation & Nutrition program focuses on expanding equity and access to summer recreation offerings and addressing youth food insecurity.

Pay Grade:$19.90 $20.40 Hourly
Remote Tier 1:Zero 0 days remote/week.Essential Job Functions
- Lead team of sitespecific staff in the planning and implementation of 8 weeks of engaging constructive and enjoyable activities for Recreation and Nutrition participants
- Organize and instruct activities
- Plan and coordinate day to day operations for camp program including scheduling.
- Maintain all necessary weekly records
- Supervise Recreation & Nutrition counselors.
- Become familiar with and support adherence to all guidelines and procedures as they pertain to the Federally funded Summer Food Services Program (SFSP).
- Provide a safe welcoming and inclusive space for a diverse group of participants
- Provide excellent customer service to parents guardians and caregivers through ongoing communication and program updates
- Along with program counselors supports the supervision engagement and wellbeing of participants onsite as well as while on field trips.
- Maintain a safe area and report any deficiencies incidents or accidents to supervisor.
- Required to be on site before the program starts for set up and preparation as well as clean up at the end of the day.
- Communicating updates and insights directly to Supervisor
- Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Administer proper First Aid as required.
- Participate in the evaluation process.
- Position may require operation of City vehicle and/or personal vehicle to conduct City business
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

- Valid Drivers License
- Operation of a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid drivers license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid drivers license shall be defined as a current state of residenceissued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. Position also requires the ability to be covered under the Citys vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or nonCity vehicles for City business
- Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation required.
- Associates or higherlevel degree in Education Childhood Development Family Studies Recreation Management or a similar field.
- Experience supervising staff.
- College course work in Education Childhood Development Family Studies or Recreation Management preferred.
- Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.
- Ability to deal effectively with discipline problems coworkers and supervisors.
- Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities.
- Knowledge of a variety of recreation/leisure activities and group games.
- A cooperative attitude and a team player.
- Enthusiasm patience a desire to work with children and creativity.
- Upon conditional offer of employment candidate must successfully complete background investigation
