Job Description

Director of Health & Clinical Services

Department: Nursing Services
FLSA/Classification: Exempt/Salary
Reports to: Community Director
Direct Reports: Nurse Managers Clinical Staff

Summary:

The Director of Health and Clinical Services is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall management and oversight of clinical care services at our Senior Living Community specializing in Assisted Living and Memory Wellness. The individual in this role will ensure the delivery of highquality healthcare services in compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and organizational policies. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of healthcare practices regulatory requirements and a commitment to providing the highest level of care to residents. The Director will supervise and lead a team of healthcare professionals manage clinical operations and collaborate with other key staff to ensure the wellbeing of residents. Additionally the Director will play a crucial role in the continuous improvement of care services quality assurance and clinical program development within the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Oversee and manage the nursing and clinical team including RNs LPNs CNAs and other healthcare staff.
  • Lead recruitment training and development of clinical staff to ensure the delivery of highquality care.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement ensuring staff is supported and empowered to provide excellent resident care.

Resident Care Management

  • Monitor and evaluate resident care plans to ensure that each residents physical mental and emotional needs are met.
  • Lead assessments of residents health needs develop individualized care plans and ensure they are regularly updated.
  • Serve as a primary resource for families and residents regarding health care concerns or questions.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure the community adheres to state and federal healthcare regulations including licensing and health inspections.
  • Lead the preparation for and ensure successful outcomes of health surveys audits and regulatory visits.
  • Implement quality assurance programs and monitor outcomes to enhance care delivery and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Collaborate with physicians specialists and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care for residents.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to align clinical services with the organizations goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents families and the community.

Clinical Program Development

  • Develop implement and review clinical policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and current standards of care.
  • Ensure effective medication management and oversee clinical care procedures.
  • Stay uptodate on emerging trends in senior healthcare assisted living and dementia care.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage the clinical department budget and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies ensuring quality and compliance.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations clinical protocols and the aging process.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
  • Ability to assess prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Uses discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Understanding adherence and enforcment of HIPAA law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains a courteous and professional manner through interactions with others.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
  • Proficient human relations skills with experience in interviewing/selecting evaluating training coaching and motivating staff.
  • Uses a resident and customerfocused approach to problem solving goal setting and management philosophy.
  • Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a teamoriented environment.
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.

Minimum Education/Experience/Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active unencumbered license in Illinois.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical leadership role with significant experience in senior living assisted living or dementia care settings.
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration or related field (Masters preferred).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Infection Control Preventionist IDPH Certification a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for 45 hours of an 8hour shift.
  • Must have the ability to sit for 34 hours of an 8hour shift.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally stoop bend and kneel.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift 75 to 100 pounds while bending at the waist and knees while assisting in resident transfers.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally push pull or move medical carts residents using lift systems and residents in wheelchairs exerting a force of 40 to 100 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to use wrists fingers and hands for repetitive firm grasping.

Other federally regulated requirements:

  • Must be willing to undergo preemployment background check including (MVR) moving vehicle records.
  • Must have or be willing to receive the FluShot Vaccine and TB testing.
  • Must be willing to undergo preemployment drug screening including cannabis.
  • Must be willing to undergo biometric screening.

Working Conditions:

  • Fastpaced and dynamic environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exposure to potential health risks as common in healthcare settings.
  • Complies with on call requirements as applicable
  • Available for Emergency calls
  • Manager on Duty if activated
  • Regular onsite physical presence is required
  • Reliable predictable and punctual attendance to provide effective management of staff to provide timely service to internal and external customers and to support uninterrupted business operations and continuous medical care to residents is required.
