Job Description

Position Title: Lecturer (Economics)

Department: School of Business

Campus Location:Washburn University

Position Summary: Washburn Universitys Greg and Ronda Brenneman School of Business in Topeka Kansas invites applications for a ninemonth nontenure track position of a lecturer in economics. The appointment beginning in Fall 2025 is subject to budgetary approval. This position is renewed annually contingent on the need.

Each selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage all learners.

The Brenneman School of Business serves more than 600 BBA MBA and MAcc students through its AACSBaccredited programs. In January 2027 the school will move into a newly renovated academic building the $43 million Advisors Excel Hall.

The standard lecturers teaching load is four courses per semester. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. The School provides robust professional development and research support including financial databases software and generous travel funding.

Essential Functions:
Teaching courses at the freshman and sophomore level (possible teaching assignments may include Introduction to Economics Principles of Microeconomics Principles of Macroeconomics Business Statistics) and upperdivision economics electives consistent with the candidates training and interests. The standard teaching expectation associated with nontenuretrack appointment is four courses 12 credit hours) per semester.
Fulfill service expectations associated with fulltime nontenuretrack appointment by engaging in academic advising and other service activities in the department university and profession.
Perform additional jobrelated duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Economics or a closely related field.
Experience teaching undergraduate courses in economics and business statistics.
Evidence of academic and professional qualifications consistent with AACSB accreditation requirements.
Demonstrated dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage all learners.
Official educational transcripts required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or ABD in Economics.
Experience teaching courses in economics and/or business statistics at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Demonstrated commitment to scholarly and service activities commensurate with AACSB accreditation and school and University expectations.
