Employment Type: Full time (35 hours a week)
Duration: 14 months Fixed Term
Remuneration: Level B from $123K base Level C from $150K base ( 17% Super leave loading)
Work rights required: Full time Australian work rights for the duration of the contract.
Locations: SWSLHD four days per week at Liverpool and SPH one day per week at Randwick

Our work ranges from responding to emerging public health crises to training the future health workforce. Youll join a considerable institution of learners thinkers researchers and innovators with more than 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students and 200 research candidates enrolled in our School.
Why this role matters:
The School of Population Health (SPH) is collaborating with the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) to deliver a program to develop the health leadership and management (HLM) capacity of the District and the School. A SPH Lecturer (Level B)/ Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Health Leadership and Management will be an embedded position with the SWSLHD and it will be colocated across SWSLHD in Liverpool and SPH in Randwick. The role reports to Professor of Health Leadership and Management in SPH.
The position plays a key role in supporting the SWSLHD to advance the Districts health leadership and management development program. The position under the direction of the SWSLHD Chief Executive and SPH Professor HLM will undertake activities aimed at enhancing the SWSLHD organisational development management and leadership capabilities. This position will make a contribution to educational and research excellence in the HLM program of the School. Teaching into the Master of HLM Program they will provide a course that is of highquality based on current literature and policy materials and aligned with industry needs and challenges. They will also engage in health systems and services research studies within SWSLHD.
Specific accountabilities for this role are across the SPHSWSLHD research teaching and service areas as indicated below:
SPHSWSLHD
Reporting to Professor of HLM the position will participate in develop and promote the health management expertise and capacity within SWSLHD and SPH.
- Contribute to the implementation of the SWSLHD Health Leadership and Management Development Plan as determined by the SWSLHD CE.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the SWSLHD Graduate Health Management Trainee Program and Health Management Scholarship Program.
- Contribute to the development of the SPHSWSLHD collaboration identifying areas for increased engagement and improvements in health services and management delivery research and teaching.
Research
As a Level B Lecturer:
- In SWSLHD participate in research collaborations to conduct original/innovative research actively contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the relevant subject area/s including making contributions to the discipline which are recognised at a national level with emerging international impact.
- Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding as a coinvestigator or chief investigator.
- Mentor academics and/or Higher Degree Research (HDR) students in their development of successful research careers.
- Recruit and supervise HDR students to timely completion as primary or cosupervisor within SWSLHD.
- Undertake knowledge exchange activities and contribute to commercialisation of research outcomes.
As a Level C Senior Lecturer in addition to the above:
- Be a research leader and collaborator in health leadership and management research and engage in internationally competitive research that aligns with the strategic research directions of the SPH and SWSLHD.
- Develop and build research capacity within SPH and SWSLHD leading the submission of research proposals to competitive funding bodies with significant impact on the end users of research.
Teaching As a Level B Lecturer:
- Teaching in to the MHLM Program provide a course that is of highquality based on current literature and policy materials and aligned with industry needs and challenges.
- Apply a welldefined teaching philosophy and a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning and fosters a positive inclusive culture of educational excellence.
- Engage in peer review and disseminate bestpractice in education.
- Conduct classes assess student learning achievements and support students in both postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy as an exemplar for others.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources and provide assessment and feedback at course level using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
- Contribute to support strategies for learning progression that enable positive outcomes for students.
- Work collaboratively with peers across the school faculty and UNSW and contribute to national dialogues in teaching and learning advancing cooperation developing partnerships and informing practice.
As a Level C Senior Lecturer in addition to the above:
- Design and develop learning activities and resources and provide assessment and feedback at course and program levels using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
- Contribute to the review development and/or design of curriculum and manage curriculum administration as Course Authority including academic quality assurance as required. Service
- Make a positive contribution by participating in SPH and Faculty meetings and seminars and be a member of School Faculty and University committees as required.
- Provide administrative leadership at School and/or University level including coordination of courses departmental and/or faculty meetings open days and student recruitment activities.
- Engage with academic professional and international organisations relevant to the objectives of the School and Faculty.
