High Point Universitys Department of Music invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music Director of Athletic Bands. This is a fulltime 10month faculty position. The qualified candidate will teach two courses each semester; serve as Director of Athletic Bands; work closely with the Department of Music and Athletics to coordinate pep/marching band activities; maintain a research program (creative works); engage in department/school/university service; participate in recruitment and retention initiatives; and advise music majors.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Masters degree in music; Doctorate in Music preferred.
- Experience as an athletic band director or assistant director preferably at the university level
- Experience teaching at the college/university level
- Evidence of a program of creative works or scholarship
- Effective communication leadership and team building skills
- Evidence of a studentcentered approach to education
- Collaborator and team player who can thrive in a dynamic fastpaced environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This is a 10month position with summer duties related to activities connected to Director of Athletic Bands particularly in recruitment
- Serve as Director of Athletic Bands with emphasis on program growth
- Teach two undergraduate courses each semester 8 credits adjusted) related to the candidates area of expertise.
- Participate in departmental and university service
- Student advising and progress monitoring
