As part of our ongoing commitment to the Department of Justice were on the lookout for individuals like you to join our extraordinary team of Custody Officers in Carnarvon.
As a Custody Officer you will play a vital part in creating a safe and secure environment for detainees. Your role involves ensuring their welfare needs are met while consistently upholding a professional and respectful demeanour.

- Paid Training: Enjoy 6 weeks of fully paid training equipping you with the necessary skills for this unique role.
- Pay increase after training: Start at $27.35 during training increasing to $29.50 posttraining.
- Regional Allowance: An extra $5943 per annum spread over your fortnightly wage payments.
What will your daytoday look like
- Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical activities.
- Participate in court activities for security requirements.
- Manage conflict and communicate with empathy making a positive impact on the lives of detainees.
- Value diversity and display a fair and openminded attitude towards detainees in custody.
- Provide safety and security for Persons in Custody staff employees and members of the public.
- Enjoy the variety of performing walking and mobile patrols of a designated area.
- Be responsible for supervising people in custody escorting them to appointments or court appearances and maintaining accurate records.
What do we need from you
- Availability to train full time for 6 weeks in Perth
- Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications: We value your dedication and commitment to your professional growth.
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Willingness to undergo a preemployment medical including a drug & alcohol test: Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our team members and detainees is our top priority.
