The primary responsibility of the Senior Staff Business Opportunity Manager (BOM) role is to work across Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO) functions to develop lead and deliver strategies & projects that enhance the value of the asset. BOM functions include articulating business cases for opportunities collaborating with a variety of teams progressing projects through the stage gate approval process and capital management of the project portfolio.
Success in this role requires collaborating and building alignment with functional teams that include Subsurface Development Asset Development Well Delivery Major Projects and Operations while driving consistency of the BOM functions across projects and the CTCHO assets. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise and knowledge of CVE processes (resource development stage gates capital management long range planning etc. to provide mentorship and build robust business cases will be critical to success in this role.
What youll do:
Manage cases (qualitative and quantitative) throughout the project lifecycle from initiation to benefits realization while coordinating with project and scoping managers to communicate changes impacting the case
Lead project teams to progress projects and provide support to the Project Manger in defining objectives and stewarding projects through capital governance and stage gate approval processes
Ensuring changes are reflected in capital budgets and securing corporate approvals that impact Project Approval Request (PAR) level deliverables
Manage asset and/or project capital for the budget and business plans by working with Project Managers to ensure spend is in line with project and Budget approvals
Provide monthly forecast capital updates with guidance from upstream planning and project integration to communicate drivers for capital variance and work with project and scoping managers to identify and communicate levers to increase or decrease capital
Handle the business interfaces for assigned asset and projects by maintaining close communication with Project and Scoping managers to ensure risks and interdependencies are understood throughout the project life cycle
Work closely with the development and teams to establish and progress the overarching CHO asset strategy and cost reduction/value enhancing initiatives
Lead and/or participate in fulllife strategic framing sessions for the asset to develop longterm strategies beyond the 5year window
Support organic and inorganic growth scenario evaluations including stewarding earlystage EOR project screening and prioritization
Maintain a comprehensive technical understanding of the entire CHO project portfolio including opportunities risks uncertainties and interdependencies.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Licensed Professional Engineer or Geoscientist registered with APEGA is required
16 years in an upstream technical asset development or project management role(s). A diverse technical background with previous Conventional Heavy Oil or SAGD experience is considered an asset
Proven ability to bring people together influence others without authority and build consensus to drive change
Established track record of working collaboratively in a fastpaced environment where priorities change frequently on innovative solutions for complex or ambiguous problems
Experience with capital management and optimizing project value is
