Job Description

ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)

The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane in nearby Williams Lake BC and across the globe.

POSITION

The Economic Development Officer is a key contributor to WLFNs economic growth supporting business development strategic partnerships and longterm financial sustainability. Reporting to the Economic Development Manager this role is responsible for identifying and advancing business opportunities managing key projects and securing investments that align with WLFNs strategic vision. The position works collaboratively with senior management various departments and WLFNs economic development corporation to drive economic initiatives that foster prosperity for the Nation.

Employment Type

OneYear Term (End date March 31 2026 full time 35 hours per week.

Probation Period

3 months from the date of hire.

Education Required

Bachelors Degree (Business Finance Economics or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Required

Previous experience in business development corporate development or a similar role is preferred.

Overtime Status

Nonexempt.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide dedicated support to advance economic development projects from concept to ensuring timely progress and revenue generation.
  • Monitor the financial and operational performance of WLFNowned businesses providing recommendations for longterm sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners investors government agencies and community stakeholders to drive economic growth.
  • Research and secure funding opportunities and privatesector investments to support ongoing and future projects.
  • Track industry trends policy changes and economic conditions to identify risks and opportunities for WLFNs business and investment landscape.
  • Prepare reports business proposals and presentations for leadership providing insights and recommendations to support decisionmaking and economic initiatives.
  • Supports the mission vision and values of Williams Lake First Nation
  • Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned
