If yes youll thrive in this Finance Director position with a First Nations organization located in beautiful Kamloops BC. Our client has a long history of been working with Local First Nations and the Government to elevate their independence and help provide for their communities.
In the role of Finance Director your daytoday will be overseeing and implementing all aspects of the full accounting cycle while working with other department heads to ensure that they have access to the right information in order to manage their respective areas. Youll be required to oversee a small team (three reports) and be responsible for generating budgets financial reports and statements and financial collection. This fulltime permanent position requires a competent and dedicated manager with a strong background in accounting and an ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness in reporting to other managers.
The Role:
Management of Accounting Department and accounting team.
- Preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Working with department heads in the Development of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Reporting on financials to managers as required or requested.
- Preparation of monthend close process to ensure timely completion of monthly financial statements.
- Ensuring accuracy of postings to general ledger
- Ongoing management of:
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll
- Desk procedures for each accounting function
- Preparation and submission of yearend audit package
- Review of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with policies and good business practices.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Must have at least 5 to 7 years experience as an Accounting Manager or equivalent role
- Must have at least 3 years experience leading and managing a small team
- Knowledgeable in the process of developing and writing proposals
- A successful track record of mentoring team members to grow within their department
- Inquisitive nature and desire for creating processes that improve workflow
- Ability to multitask and manage timelines and deadlines
