Exciting Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Specialistopportunity on theCardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit. The Cardiac SICU is an 18 bed unit that is part of the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center a team of worldclass physicians and nurses each specializing in specific forms of heart disease working closely together to offer leading treatments and preventive care for both common and complex cardiac conditions.The Cardiac SICU provides a multidisciplinary team approach that addresses the psychosocial spiritual and emotional as well as physiological needs of patients and their families.The population includes highly acute patients requiring surgical and percutaneous interventions to manage hemodynamic instability multisystem organ dysfunction/failure coronary artery bypass grafting pre and post heart transplantation pre and post lung transplant valvular disease and congenital diseases of the heart and vessels. Advanced technologies used to support this patient population include: intra aortic balloon counterpulsation ventricular assist devices continuous renal replacement therapies and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.The Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Specialist is a masters prepared nurse with an area of specialization who promotes competent evidencebased compassionate and professional nursing care for patients/families across the continuum and the Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Specialist demonstrates excellence in professional nursing practice.
