The preferred candidate will be able to function in multiple technical roles with the specific roles to be dependent upon the candidates background and skills as explained below.

  • A licensed Professional Engineer with proven track record of managing multiple mechanical design efforts from conceptual design through construction support for world class Chemical and Biofuel clients. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a team leading new technology deployment on a wide range of sustainability initiatives for our key clients. Indepth knowledge of mechanical equipment normally found in the chemical industries and biofuels industries along with industry codes is critical to provide leadership on these challenging projects.

  • In addition to the work group lead role described above be able to bring to the table an area of focused technical leadership; the specific areas are open and somewhat flexible with the current areas of interest noted below:

    • Broad experience with any sustainability technologies and / or biofuels experience.

    • Heat transfer technology and equipment such as boilers heat exchangers char boilers gasification mechanical vapor recompression systems etc.

    • Large complex packaged equipment systems such as thermal oxidizers cooling towers process units etc.

The selected candidate will be expected to function in this dual role depending upon the project mix and technical demands of our Clients. Candidate must be flexibility to accommodate a varying blend of each role depending upon the specific needs of the Projects.

These roles are expected to function in a hybrid work environment and must have the ability to travel to client sites to attend walkdowns kickoff meetings and design reviews.

RESPONSIBILITES MECHANICAL WORK GROUP LEAD ROLE

  • Early project planning and coordination while handling two to three small to midcap sized projects with ability to quickly provide engineering work hour estimates and risk memos.

  • Develop and manage the preparation review and checking of mechanical specification packages in accordance with Client requirements and industry best practices.

  • Manage and successfully influence the entire procurement life cycle while working closely with all disciplines.

  • Managing development of complex multidiscipline Construction packages including diagrams drawings equipment schedules details and Scopes of Work.

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients vendors and contractors in a professional manner.

  • Track Project Scope and Schedule and notify project manager of deviation from original design budget or schedule.

RESPONSIBILITES TECHNICAL SPECIALIST ROLE

  • Actively engage key clients while extending our already successful collaborative relationships in the candidates area of specialty.

  • Act as subject matter expert for KBR local office and participate in KBRs worldwide network of SMEs.

  • Train and mentor earlytomid career engineers in the candidates area of expertise.

  • Provide consultation services to inhouse projects on asneeded basis and provide external consulting services when requested.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or another related field.

  • 10 years (minimum) of experience in the EPC industry or chemical / biofuels operating companies. Will consider experience with chemical site team or project engineering backgrounds in related industries. Operations / Maintenance and Reliability experience is a plus.

  • Professional Engineering License (P.E. is mandatory.

  • Proven experience with any of the following core areas:

    • Broad experience with any chemicals technologies and / or biofuels experience.

    • Heat transfer technology and equipment such as boilers heat exchangers char boilers gasification mechanical vapor recompression systems etc.

    • Large complex packaged equipment systems such as thermal oxidizers cooling towers process units etc.

  • Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines while providing proactive leadership on all interdiscipline design coordination efforts.

  • Ability to travel as needed to survey client sites.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel to client sites will comply with all KBR and Client Safety Rules Processes and Procedures

  • Work at client sites may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fireant clothing hearing and eye protection hard hat and steeltoed boots

  • Work at client sites may require moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas ascending/descending stairs walking the client property

  • This may include climbing ladders lifting to up to 35 lbs etc
