Certified Elementary Art Teacher
Long Term Substitute Boothwyn Elementary
Job Summary:
The art teacher will be responsible for fostering an interest in and the ability to express creatively in visual terms among students. This role involves developing aesthetic understandings appreciating art and discovering and nurturing students talents in the field of art all while adhering to school guidelines.
Essential Functions
Instruction: Teach knowledge and skills in various art forms including drawing painting lettering and art history.
Aesthetic Development: Provide instruction that helps students develop aesthetic concepts and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
Demonstration: Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting including the versatility of acrylic paints (dry brushing staining layering underpainting and monoprinting).
Art Techniques: Understand and apply various master techniques and elements of design along with modern principles of art.
Differentiated Instruction: Provide individual and smallgroup instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
Tool Management: Instruct students in the proper care and use of tools and equipment while organizing storage areas to control material use.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluate each students performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding preparing progress reports as needed.
Resource Management: Select and requisition books instructional materials and tools and maintain required inventory records.
Exhibitions: Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to showcase students work for the school and community.
Professional Development: Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the school or selfselected professional growth activities.
Communication: Communicate with parents and school counselors regarding student progress.
Collaboration: Participate in curriculum development programs afterschool art clubs and other related activities.
Compliance: Adhere to policies regulations and procedures of the school while effectively collaborating with staff.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Art Education PK12 .
Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance.
Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
FBI Criminal Background Clearance.
Demonstrated Knowledge
Mastery of necessary content knowledge and skills to teach assigned content areas effectively.
Proficiency in automated student information systems for progress reporting and class documentation.
Exceptional classroom management organization planning instructional delivery leadership skills and the ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods.
Familiarity with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII) methodologies.
Demonstrated Ability
Assess students needs and learning styles to design appropriate differentiated instruction.
Use technology innovatively in the classroom to enhance instructional strategies.
Facilitate inquirybased learning through whole class small group and individual instruction driven by student needs.
Communicate effectively with students parents faculty and staff both orally and in writing.
