Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Research Assistant supports the research activities of faculty members and Research Coordinator(s) involved in operational research of structural heart disease in the BWH Cardiovascular Division. The activities include: data entry limited data analysis collecting information for patient screening and followup and processing information and studies for review internally and in core laboratories.
The Research Assistant also performs some administrative duties including coordinating followup visits organizing patient mailings and other scheduling and coordinating tasks as necessitated by research protocol(s)
The successful applicant will be an independent problemsolver with excellent attention to detail and writing skills who desires to work in an interdisciplinary fastpaced and missiondriven organization.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Datarelated tasks. Perform data entry and limited data analysis for researchrelated projects. Report on these program data to research coordinator and investigators as needed.
2. Assist in preparing report(s) to sponsors and oversight committees. This includes preparing and formatting monthly device accountability reports tracking and screening logs and other reports as necessitated by protocol(s).
3. Surveys and questionnaires. Assist in the preparation and completion of patient questionnaires including telephone followup.
4. Assist in screening patient medical records for trial enrollment.
5. Assist in gathering and deidentifying materials and information from other hospitals for adverse event reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
  2. Previous experience working in or with a clinical cardiovascular disease or research program
  3. Previous data entry and coordination experience preferred.
  4. The successful candidate will need to be a selfstarter and strong communicator able to work productively and independently as the faculty members and staff have multiple additional responsibilities.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  1. Flexibility and demonstrated competence in assessing prioritiesmanaging a variety of activities in a timesensitive environment and meetingdeadlines with attention to detail andactivities in a timesensitive environment and meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff sponsors and patients.
