Job description

Purpose

Life as a Senior Developer is all about coding collaboration and working as a team to create something incredible. As a Senior Developer at Experian youll work in one of our business areas gain exposure to our exciting work and help to develop products for the future.

Responsible for the system design and delivery of well tested solutions for new and existing products platforms and systems. The programming of the complex new programs/systems and amendments to existing ones. To provide technical assistance to customers business analysts sales executives or account managers. Supervision of junior staffs workflow and skills development. To contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives

Software Development

  Production of technical specifications which are geared to the level of programming resource available

  Strong Analytical skills in the identification and development of welldesigned and structured solutions (systems and programs) to meet customer requirements.

  The programming of new programs/systems and amendments to existing ones. To include more complex system amendments.  

  Undertake root cause investigation / identification of bugs / defects

  Technical competence developing within an AWS delivery platform environment (networking IAM roles and policies building secure systems serverless version control release process cost and design optimisation)

  Technical competence with open source/cloud native SQL in the cloud

  The creation/approval of test plans and review of test results as required.

  Creation of work/timescale estimates as required.

  Timely and appropriate escalation of issues to line manager with recommended solutions

  Carry out system integration testing as required and ensure system integration testing is carried out effectively

Business and Technical Knowledge

  Technical support for internal customers using language appropriate to the audience in internal product or system related meetings

  Technical support/assistance for estimating and scheduling of up to medium sized projects

  Product/system demonstrations to internal and external staff as required

  Undertake Knowledge Sharing sessions within own team and contribute to sessions to the rest of the department

Communications

  Good communication within the team or project group both in sharing knowledge skills and experience  (particularly to Juniors and  Trainees) and in being able to ask for and receive assistance (from more experienced colleagues)

  Management of own tasks and time to ensure meeting project deadlines escalating in a timely manner when necessary

  Delivery of small or selfcontained projects by monitoring progress against the project plan and escalating any slippage where required

Coaching / Teamwork / Leadership

  Technical support/induction for new members of the team as required

  Proactive coaching/mentoring of staff

  Sharing technical knowledge/expertise with team colleagues

  Management of own tasks and time to ensure meeting project deadlines.  Production of accurate work time/effort estimates.

  Delivery of projects and project components by monitoring progress against the project plan escalating and contributing to the resolution of any slippage

Qualifications :

Qualifications

• Qualifications B.Sc. in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics or equivalent degree. Desirable Experience 5 to 7 years of development experience in AWS Experience of working in an agile environment using a Scrum approach. Experience of the full development lifecycle. Strong development and analysis skills Ability to write clean scalable code applying design patterns and best practices. Demonstrable experience in AWS development technologies and software engineering best practices o Open source/cloud native SQL o Building and maintaining a secure AWS platform o JIRA o Aperture knowledge would be useful
