Job Description

Boys & Girls Club of Lake County Youth Development Professional

Founded in 2000 the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County (BGCLC) is to inspire all young people to reach their full potential as productive caring responsible citizens. Our goals are to empower youth and to change lives. We strive to provide a premier Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan demonstrating good character and citizenship and living a healthy lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

Programming

  • Lead diverse afterschool activities encompassing tutoring technology sports arts and recreation for youth aged 617.
  • Develop and execute weekly lesson plans under the guidance of Site Coordinators and Program Directors ensuring alignment with Club objectives.
  • Foster full participation and enthusiasm among youth promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Engage in Club events field trips and special activities enriching the overall experience for our youth.
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet the individual needs and backgrounds of youth participants.
  • Plan and host special event programs for parents teachers and the broader community

Supervision

  • Supervise program areas diligently to uphold member safety standards.
  • Offer mild disciplinary guidance when necessary ensuring a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in supervising youth during transportation on school buses.
  • Orient and oversee volunteers leveraging their support in delivering exceptional programs.
  • Participate in emergency procedures and respond effectively to disciplinary situations.

Other

  • Steward relationship and engagement of school staff and parents/guardians
  • Maintain Club cleanliness and organization completing setup and cleanup daily and enforcing all siteoperating expectations
  • Provide meals to youth following USDA guidelines.
  • Actively contribute to weekly staff meetings to provide regular updates on site challenges opportunities and best practices.
  • Continuously assess programs to ensure members safety quality and resource optimization including implementing afterschool program assessment tools.
  • Maintain current CPR certification and assist with first aid as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous experience working with young people is preferred.
  • Successful completion of local state and national background checks.
  • Commitment to maintaining a drugfree environment and passing required screenings.
  • Demonstrated passion for working with children and promoting their wellbeing.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Ability to climb stairs and to lift items over 50 lbs.
  • Mobility to perform active programming needs.
  • Ability to perform any other position duties.

Compensation and Benefits Package

  • Competitive hourly rates range from $18 to $20 commensurate with experience.
  • Up to 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) can be accrued each calendar year.

Job Type: Parttime

Pay: $18.00 $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 25 per week
