Job Description:

As a key leader in L3Harris Maritime Sector this General Manager position is responsible to develop and execute the strategic vision of Surface and C5 Systems Surface Sea Systems (S3 business area leveraging their full profit and loss responsibility to deliver our key financial and nonfinancial results. Responsible for managing and growing Autonomous Capabilities including our Medium and Small USV programs and Electrical & Propulsion System Integration (EPSI) programs consisting of FFG Constellation TAGOS Ship to Shore Connector and similar programs. Attracts develops and retains a team of highperformance Program Managers System Architects and Engineers to grow and execute complex maritime focused projects and programs. Establishes overall direction and adherence to companys processes policies and systems. Develops and maintains close relationships with customers industry teammates and internal functional partners. Business is in Herndon VA and Broussard LA with an associated facility in Camden NJ. Travel up to 30.

In this pivotal role you will be instrumental in advancing L3Harris position as a worldclass strategic partner for U.S. shipyards and shipyards across the world focusing on the development and integration of cuttingedge maritime autonomy solutions electrical systems propulsion technologies and software integration engineering. Your leadership will drive the innovation and efficiency of our supply chain management enabling shipyards to design procure manufacture and deliver the most advanced autonomous and crewed warships globally. By fostering strong collaborations with shipyards and suppliers and leveraging L3Harris technological expertise you will ensure that our maritime solutions meet the highest standards of performance and reliability positioning our partners at the forefront of naval warfare capabilities.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to developing trusted relationships with internal and external customers leading exceptional of development and production programs coordinating with business development managers and capture resources to shape new pursuits and followon production program requirements and defining winning solutions leveraging IR&D investment to positioning L3Harris to successfully win and execute business in this market. The individual will work across a matrixed organization influence outcomes and possess both strong Program Management fundamentals and competitive capture experience.This is a high visibility position and the candidate can expect regular executive engagement internally and within the customer community.

This position has functional authority for planning organization control documentation tracking integration financial monitoring and completion of customer programs. A successful Director will work closely and collaboratively with our Engineering Finance Business Development Program Excellence Supply Chain Operations and Quality departments. This position oversees developing a new business pipeline and managing proposal efforts from customer requirements definition through solution definition to negotiation and contract award. The ideal candidate will foster a cooperative work atmosphere establish objectives and provide transparent guidance to the team ensuring accountability while offering definitive and beneficial feedback. This role requires empowering team members to take responsibility for their tasks identifying and securing growth within funded programs and aiding in the acquisition of new customer opportunities. Additionally the candidate must exemplify and demand ethical and professional conduct in line with the companys values and support the broader development of a highperformance team and winning culture.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop a vision strategy and associated tactics for the S3 business that drives growth develops our program managers acumen and leadership and established a culture of operational excellence.
  • Drives active program and crossfunctional management to ensure 100 schedule adherence.
  • Lead and manage the business and achieve operational excellence and high customer satisfaction while meeting financial performance targets.
  • Provide leadership to Business Development activities including strategic business planning new business forecasting and strategic capture.
  • Plans in advance and conducts reviews & coordinate approvals of major bids and proposals to ensure success through opportunity risk and financial analysis.
  • Establish grow and maintain close customer relationships participate in the marketing and sales process and actively promote the organizations capabilities and strengths; ensure that customer perspective is a driving force behind business decisions and activities.
  • Drives high standards for individual team and organizational accomplishment through teamwork and empowerment; tenaciously work to meet or exceed challenging goals and foster continuous improvement.
  • A strong natural leadership style that motivates and inspires excellence
  • A prudent change agent able to quickly assimilate to a new organization effectively
  • Proven leadership and staff development skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering and 15 years of experience managing a team in the Aerospace & Defense market (Maritime preferred) with 7 years senior management role leading and motivating a diverse workforcefocused on system integration. Or a Graduate degree with 9 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience of cross functional leadership experience spanning business development program management engineering and operations.
  • At least 5 years experience with Navy or equivalent acquisition process.
  • Demonstrated strong Systems Engineering skillset or experience
  • Demonstrated experience building exceptional customer relationships in Department of Defense market
  • Capture Management and Proposal Management Experience in advanced technology
  • Extensive experience with Fixed Price contracts and Fixed Price major subcontracts.
  • Experience with EVMS demonstrated on successful production programs.
  • Proven ability to lead parallel development and deployment efforts through delivery and trials
  • Demonstrated track record successfully transitioning new products and systems through qualification and into production
  • Demonstrated ability to lead proposal development and capture efforts
  • US Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Post Graduate / Masters Degree in Engineering or Business
  • Soft skills (I.E. Proficient in SAP MS Office strong communication traits)
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification or working towards certification
