Job Description:
The Senior level Systems Engineer is responsible for performing data analysis in tactical data link acquisition and processing systems. This position desires technical and troubleshooting skills to investigate and solve Tactical Communication system performance issues including operational environment impacts. The individual will be responsible for the generation and review of technical papers calculations and briefings. The individual will also be required to prepare and present technical briefs to internal management teams.
Essential Functions:
- Supporting the performance verification and sustainment of fielded Tactical Communication systems and components.
- Participating in formal engineering analysis and reviewing performance parameters at the total system and individual component levels.
- Performing the design development and release of related data management processing and reporting software tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and nontechnical personnel
- Experience in troubleshooting Data Link (e.g. Link16 CMF etc. or other communication systems in single and MultiLevel Security environments.
- Software coding and development.
- Read interpret create and maintain spreadsheets charts reports investigation and test plans and procedures.
- Work both independently and within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word Excel et al) is required to generate work products.
- Physical requirements: Some lifting in a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) environment.
- Knowledge of systems engineering concepts practices and procedures.
- Building and analyzing Data Link (e.g. Link16 CMF etc. messages.
- Working knowledge of MilStandardsand 6020.
- Writing systems and software requirements using an application such as DOORS/JIRA.
- Presenting design and project information at periodic reviews as well as recommending improvements to existing designs.
- Will handle a large amount of classified material.
- Tactical Datalink radios/terminals to include MIDSJTRS JTIDS Class 2 and JRE as well as experience with MILSTD1553B interfaces.
- Working with Unix/Linux commands in terminal consoles.
- Building test cases to assess software and system operation against requirements writing defect reports and assessing corrections.
- Networking technologies to include Security certification.
- Familiarity with RC135 Communications Systems.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with nine 9 years of troubleshooting Data Link (e.g. Link16 CMF etc. or other communication systems in single and multilevel security environments.
- Graduate Degree with seven 7 years of troubleshooting Data Link (e.g. Link16 CMF etc. or other communication systems in single and multilevel security environments.
- In lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of troubleshooting Data Link (e.g. Link16 CMF etc. or other communication systems in single and multilevel security environments.
- Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
- Must obtain a Class III Flight Certification.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top Secret with SCI.
- DoD/Military experience.
