Southern Regional Support Manager (Legal Support Services Supervisor 2Job Description:
The successful candidate will serve as the Southern Oregon Regional Support Manager a part of the CAPD leadership team and will play an essential role in the division to provide legal services to Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division branches served in the region. In support of a positive work/life balance for the successful candidate this position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule (remote and in office work).
Our Mission
To provide quality and timely legal advice and effective court representation to the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Child Welfare Division in order to protect children from abuse and neglect and to support families allowing children to grow up in safe and stable environments.
What You Will Do (in part)
As the Southern Oregon Regional Support Manager (Legal Support Services Supervisor 2 you will act as an integral member of the CAPD Statewide Leadership Team whose contributions make a difference in the lives of Oregons children and families.
Provide clear transparent and accountable leadership to a diverse workforce that recognizes the value of individual and cultural differences.
Apply knowledge of local state and federal juvenile laws regulations and policies pertaining to division work to analyze and interpret operational policies procedures and guidelines and make recommendations for improvement.
Lead help develop and motivate employees to recognize the important role they each play in achieving CAPD goals and priorities while empowering them to pursue professional goals.
Strategize new initiatives problem solving and operational improvements to accomplish division goals and priorities.
Build teams supervise and mentor staff across regional CAPD offices including hiring discipline and positive performance counseling.
Desired Skills Experiences and Attributes
Develop and maintain an effective collaborative and positive staffing environment including workforce development conflict resolution and managing staff and offices through periods of change.
Possess excellent written verbal organization and presentation skills with the ability to concisely clearly and effectively communicate information to a range of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to be selfdirected and adaptable in a mutifaceted and sometimes ambiguous environment; ability to track prioritize and manage multiple issues and competing priorities.
Experience maintaining positive working relationships and communicating effectively with internal and external partners at all levels.
Effectively lead individuals and teams in a fastpaced environment working with diverse populations including race ethnicity gender ability age sexual orientation and socioeconomic status in a culturally competent manner.
Predictable and reliable attendance including the ability to work after hours to accommodate project schedules and requirements as well as regular travel instate between regional offices for supervisory purposes.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite SharePoint Teams and other appropriate technology.

Required
Four years of lead work supervision or progressively related experience; OR one year of related experience and a bachelors degree in a related field.

Work experienceis based on a 40hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal sixmonths of work experience.

About the Child Advocacy and Protection Division
Child Advocacy and Protection Division attorneys and support team members work out of offices in Portland Salem Eugene Medford Bend and Pendleton. Attorneys regularly appear in juvenile and circuit court hearings and trials in all 36 Oregon counties to achieve permanency for children. If the reunification of a child with a parent or guardian is not safe or legally possible division attorneys provide litigation services to ODHS Child Welfare to help achieve safe and permanent placements for those children including guardianship legally freeing children for adoption subsequent to termination of parental rights and other appropriate alternatives.
In addition to daily court representation of ODHS Child Welfare statewide a smaller number of CAPD attorneys provide legal advice and representation in administrative proceedings related to foster care home certification and licensing matters. Further a number of attorney supervisors and managers provide legal advice to the ODHS Child Welfare Director and program leadership related to issues of statewide significance legislation legal sufficiency rule review court issues system partner collaboration and relationships and other legal issues.
