GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The effective school psychologist communicates clearly appropriately and understandably with students parents teachers administrators and colleagues. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs and carries out diagnostic studies of individual clients by analyzing developmental and social history. Evaluates sensory motor language perceptual attentional cognitive affective attitudinal interpersonal behavioral and vocational capabilities. Consults with teachers parents and others as necessary. Prepares IEPs and prescriptions based on diagnostic evaluations.5 Implements those aspects of individual IEPs which are the responsibility of the school psychologist. Counsels individual students groups of students and their families to encourage selfexploration selfunderstanding and selfconfidence. Assists school personnel in the determination of priority of learning objectives for pupils and identifies and promotes techniques which will help children attain these objectives. Provides school personnel with classroom management techniques. Promotes and establishes remedial and special help needed by students if it is not currently available. Collaborates with school and other relevant professional persons school community and voluntary agencies to improve continuity integration adequacy of programs and services for children with special needs. Makes effective use of state agency regulations or private resources to support extend and supplement local school services for children with school needs. Provides consulting services on organizational problems and structures as they affect the learning climate of the school. Cooperates in the supervision and training of interns and students in school psychology. Shares professional knowledge through presentation of papers at conferences speaking engagements and articles for journals. Serves on committees for establishing and/ or improving community services for children and acts as a liaison between school and community services. Is actively involved in providing support services for students during emergency or crisis situations. Performs other duties as may be required by the principal children with school needs. Provides consulting services on organizational problems and structures as they affect the learning climate of the school.
