Job Description
The Bowery Mission is a Christian faithbased organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness hunger and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men women children and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.
As a member of the Choose Help team the Community Life Associate works collaboratively to create a safe welcoming and traumainformed environment that fosters healthy relationships with God and others. This position requires the Community Life Associate to work in the Mens Dorm overseeing residents during their shift.
This is a fulltime position with the following shifts for multiple dorms:
Shift #1: Thursday Monday: 3p 11:30p Tue./Wed. Off
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming and orienting residents and volunteers
- Modeling and coaching independent living skills
- Promoting healthy communication
- Overseeing schedules
- Ensuring safety by conducting hourly rounds and scheduled fire drills
- Submitting timely progress and incident reports and working collaboratively with Community Life and Shared Services teams.
Reports to: Community Life Supervisor
Requirements:
- Embraces the organizations Statement of Faith
- 23 years relevant experience with demonstrated strong relational skills
- High School diploma GED or higher
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Highly relational with strong interpersonal skills
- Computer & email proficiency
Preferred:
- Certified in Mental Health First Aid
- Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- Motivational Interviewing
- Traumainformed Care
- Certified in First Aid/CPR F80 Fire Safety
- Prefer associate degree in relevant area
- Naloxone Training
Salary: $19.23 per hour
