Tectonic is currently seeking qualified Construction Inspectors to perform special inspections on upcoming projects throughout the NYC metro area.These positions offer opportunities for professional growth and advancement as well as industryspecific certifications and onsite training! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position include traveling to various project sites on a daily basis monitoring construction operations and using applicable field testing procedures and testing equipment to perform required field and building inspections and testing as well as all related testing as required by the project and client to determine compliance with project plans and specifications. Essential functions also include the preparation of Daily Field Reports communication of deficiencies observed in the field to project managers contractors and/or client representatives and the interpretation of projectrelated drawings and documents as well as all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - Construction Inspectors must possess a HS Diploma/equivalent and possess/maintain one or more of the certifications or additional education as detailed below (or similar); certifications must be currently valid:
- ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
- ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering
- Ability to successfully complete required OSHA training within a reasonable time period;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Basic understanding of the fundamentals of building inspection codes and requirements in order to carry out testing including but not limited to International Building Codes ASTM Standards and TMS standards;
- Must be detail oriented;
- Requires a valid clean drivers license and personal vehicle to travel to and transport testing equipment to various project sites primarily throughout the New York City metro area as regular daily travel is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the essential functions of this position it is frequently necessary to: - Assume a stationary position
- Handle inspect and/or feel documents materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
- Communicate with colleagues supervisors and clients using Company email and telephone systems;
- Move around on the jobsite including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment usually for prolonged periods of time
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections
- Good visual skills including focused depth perception and
- Regular daily operations of a motorvehicle which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements US DOT Regulations and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer as well as other related office machinery such as calculators printers and copy machines.
