What Youll Do

  • Lead a team of skilled crafts personnel in the of tasks that support the maintenance of Special Tooling assets throughout their lifecycle
    • Provide direction to subordinate staff assigning and scheduling work and monitoring completion
    • Use established policies and procedures to administer group and company policies
    • Ensure tasks are executed safely and securely while yielding high quality results
    • High safety consequence manufacturing and production processing
    • Purification recovery or preparation of nuclear explosive nuclearexplosive chemical and/or mechanical materials
    • Conducttests measurements troubleshooting and/or problem solving of production processes or equipment
    • Advanced production operations training and qualifications are required in addition to a possible periodic proficiency demonstration
    • Ensures that tasks are completed on schedule following established procedures and precedents
    • Review job tasks for technical accuracy ensuring quality and integrity and that applicable lessons learned are incorporated
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineers tool makers Special Tooling staff operation counterparts etc. to address issues and execute tasks related to the maintenance of special tooling
  • Interpret engineering drawings in order to support task for fabrication modification or repair of special tools
  • Advise and coordinate with team members to facilitate problem solving concerning area assigned
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable scheduling process(es)
  • Collaborate with Special Tooling team members and other relevant parties to identify recommend and coordinate improvements to the Special Tooling manufacturing processes and work environments
  • May be required to conduct various selfassessments pertaining to area of responsibility and other related areas
  • May be required to verify various safety related information regarding the preparation and of tooling fabrication or repair activities
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal State DOE Corporate and Plant rules regulations and Plantwide operating policies and procedures
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the software systems used within the Special Tooling Program including but not limited to iTools PeopleSoft and PDMLink
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Thirteen 13 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and yearsofexperience requirements for this posting

DOE Order 426.2 Requirements

  • In addition to the above requirements the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e. High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and problem solving related to the fabrication and repair of specially designed tools (both mechanical and electromechanical) used during the assembly maintenance or evaluation of complex electromechanical systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Initiative to meet strict deadlines apply good judgment and establish/maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively through the oral and written word
  • Knowledge of risk assessment principles concepts and techniques

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligencescope polygraph pursuant to 10 CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
