Job Description

Gastroenterologist FullTime


Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!


The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a fulltime Gastroenterologist to join our innovative multidisciplinary referral and teaching hospital.


The successful candidate will provide coverage in a fastpaced referral based facility with the ability to take over an established practice that includes patient management and followups. This position includes participation in the endoscopy call schedule with no requirement of Internal Medicine or Intensive Care Unit call coverage. The Gastroenterology oncall would support the Emergency Department and Hospitalist Program with urgent scopes and consults. TADH provides on average 3185 yearly endoscopic interventions. The gastroenterologist will also enjoy an excellent working relationship with the General Surgery group who have advanced training in colorectal surgery.


There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
  • be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as a Gastroenterologist in the Province of Ontario
  • have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
  • have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care


Remuneration

Compensation is a combination of FeeforService a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan and a HOCC OnCall stipend.


Incentives

  • The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60000 over four years.
  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interestfree loan up to $150000.
  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84718 incentive over a 4year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a fulltime practice in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 225bed district hospital serving a local population of 41000 and a catchment area of 110000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical Surgical Critical Care Maternal/Child Long Term Care and Mental Health and Addiction Services. Affiliated with the NOSM University in addition to several colleges and universities in Ontario our hospital actively supports ongoing learning opportunities for medical residents and learners postsecondary and high school students.
