Job Description

Position Criteria:

  • Valid Iowa Teaching license
  • Masters degree or higher in Education Leadership/Administration
  • Administrative license & Evaluator Approval Certification through Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
  • 2 or more years as a building administrator and/or business leadership experience

Performance Criteria:

  • Partner with Advisory Board Curriculum Teams School Improvement and economic development personnel to research the newest trends of industry and emerging markets resulting in development of new APEX strand pathways and/or courses
  • Lead the APEX Advisory Board in conjunction with Superintendent Director of Postsecondary Readiness and Business Relationship Manager

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal colleagues leadership teams and stakeholders including Business Relationship Manager School Improvement Team Communications team building principals counselors etc.

  • Communicate and collaborate with external colleagues and postsecondary organizations such as DMACC and other Regents Institutions business partners students and families.

  • Participate in the recruitment hiring induction mentoring supervision and evaluation of APEX Intro to Ed & STW staff and their guest instructors

  • Facilitate curriculum development process along with industry partners.

  • Collaborate with secondary leadership teams to plan and implement ongoing professional development

  • Manage WILC Budget; supervise fundraising and donations for the program; write for grants and complete reporting documentation

  • Facilitate the development management and communications of an Alumni Association for the purposes of developing longitudinal data enhancing university affiliations expanding the mentoring/internship database and ongoing gifting possibilities.

  • Collect and communicate metrics for current students alumni business partners community members and parents. Create and deliver annual report of program metrics

  • Plan coordinate facilitate and supervise student parent and partner meetings open houses orientations and events during the business day and outside of the business day as needed
  • Oversee internal and external marketing and communications for the program.
  • Work with partner schools 28Es) to develop legal paperwork for partnership marketing communications and registration/enrollment for schools who are part of our in our seven district consortium.
  • Engage in coaching conversations with students in relation to professional skills technical skills and college and career exploration.
  • Participate in statewide professional development of STEM BEST or related programs or organizations.
  • Section and master schedule planning for each year in conjunction with secondary schools and district administration
  • Create and manage program CRM and active partner directory in partnership with the Business Relationship Manager
  • Facilitate sub coverage for the building or fill in as needed when subs are not available
  • Provide student discipline and counseling supervision in conjunction with home high school staff
  • Manage APEX/WILC websites and oversee general updates and needs
  • In collaboration with the Business Relationship Manager collaborate on recruiting development retention and monitoring of business and industry partners that result in the following: curriculum input guest speakers guest instructors mentorships internships gifting of assets such as satellite space equipment etc.
  • Ensure that hiring criteria and curriculum aligns with necessary requirements for credit from applicable postsecondary institutions and state educational organizations.
  • Develop and manage effective parent communication strategies.
  • Meet and communicate with key point persons at host sites to provide ongoing support and coordination.
  • Oversee Advisory and StudentParentAdvisor (SPA) Conference planning for students who do not have Advisory class back at their home high school.
  • Coordinate Curriculum Review Meetings to review and update curriculum needs from the business partner and academic partner perspective.
  • Plan coordinate and cofacilitate forms and logistics for stakeholders in regards to facility usage
  • Manage coworking agreements and corresponding usage of the building
  • Engage in regular communications with district Director of Communications or designee and building support staff to support overall district internal and external communications strategy.
  • Safety training management and communication for the building and for students who are engaged in learning outside of the building
  • Work with IT Department and stakeholders to determine needs and logistics for ordering technology for the program checkout and return of hardware problems solving software cloud and network needs for classes external business partners needs and safety/security and events in the building.
  • Work with business partners to create internal business and safety protocols that reflect the goals and objectives of Waukee Schools for students working with businesses on premise and on projects.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Postsecondary Readiness
