Job Description

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director the Head Mens Lacrosse Coach will provide leadership and guidance with all aspects of the intercollegiate mens lacrosse program. The Head Mens Lacrosse Coach will work to provide optimal playing conditions for LaGrange College mens lacrosse studentathletes. The Head Mens Lacrosse Coach will provide information and evaluations regarding recruits roster development budget reports game personnel and staff.


Job Duties (but not limited to):

  • The Head Mens Lacrosse Coach develops and maintains a system to identify potential recruits and to work closely with area high school coaches twoyear college coaches and parents to recruit quality studentathletes to LaGrange College.
  • Works to encourage the development of psychological social and mental skills necessary for the studentathletes to be successful in the classroom on the court and in future endeavors;
  • Works with Admissions to expedite the registration admission and other administrative processing of all studentathletes.
  • Develops practice plans position assignments game strategies individual workouts and strength and conditioning needs for various studentathletes.
  • Serves as a role model for studentathletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct.
  • Represents and promotes LaGrange College at various civic community speaking fundraising and marketing events.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students supervisors or other employees.
  • Oversees the budget.
  • Oversees mens lacrosse work study students by providing them with responsibilities and maintaining hours.
  • Serves as the game day manager for specified home games assigning regular home game responsibilities to workers from the mens lacrosse team members.
  • Assists in all aspects of mens lacrosse camps held at LaGrange College.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the daytoday operation of a successful collegiate program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required and a masters degree preferred.
  • 35 years of successful collegiate coaching experience at collegiate level is preferred.
  • Experience competing at the collegiate level is preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate physical performance related to a collegiate mens lacrosse program.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to evaluate physical performance related to an intercollegiate mens lacrosse program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must effectively communicate both within and outside the College including studentathletes parents recruits coaches civic and business leaders.
  • Ability to work as a support individual within a group setting.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership to studentathletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
