THIS RECRUITMENT IS TO FILL A FULLTIME VACANCIES IN THECOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTS BUILDING AND SAFETY DIVISIONAND TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST TO BE USED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.
The examination process will consist of a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire; therefore it is to your advantage to provide as much detailed and relevant work experience. Please note that only applicants who are deemed most qualified will be invited to participate further in the selection process.SUMMARY: Under general direction plans oversees coordinates and manages the staff and operations of the Building Division; ensures City structures are built and inspections are conducted in compliance with federal state and local building codes; plans supervises and performs complex inspections of residential commercial and industrial properties to determine compliance with federal state and local codes regulations and ordinances; provides complex and responsible support to the Director of Community Development.

Education Training and Experience Guidelines:
Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering architecture construction or a related field. At least five 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in design construction and/or inspection of public commercial industrial and residential buildings including two 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

License and Certification Requirements:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain an appropriate California Drivers License and a satisfactory driving record. Certification from the International Code Council as a Building Official. Registered with the State of California as an architect civil engineer or structural engineer.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is usually performed in a standard office environment; may vary according to job assignment. May be required to travel to various sites locations and/or events. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours; employees are required to assume duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency.
