We are seeking a leader with procurement experience to strategically source products and services for our global fulfillment and transportation operations (Worldwide Amazon Stores). This leader will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and will interact with our most important suppliers to satisfy internal customer requirements. Partnering with multiple teams this role involves developing and executing category sourcing strategies delivering lower cost and carbon while improving operations productivity.
Key job responsibilities
Establish category sourcing strategies lead crossfunctional strategic sourcing teams negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazons competitive position
Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use
Manage category suppliers to proactively identify monitor and optimize opportunities
Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
Drive category suppliers in supplier relationship management activities to mitigate risk improve performance and add value to Amazon
Identify achieve and report on savings and sustainability value targets for category sourcing activities
Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category
Build the category metrics model based on input from the category team to track and monitor performance to the category strategy; measure actual vs planned savings and advise team of trends escalate issues and own action plans
A day in the life
You will source innovative and market leading energy storage solutions that collect and save renewable energy to help support decarbonization of electricity grids and our buildings improve grid reliability and deliver lower cost to serve our operations.
You will focus on deep diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for our operations
You will collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from our external suppliers as well as internal partners across Worldwide Operations Engineering Services Reliability & Maintenance Engineering Sustainability Workplace Health & Safety and Finance
You may have to adapt and sometimes take different roles from strategy development to project management to rapidly meet customer needs

Our global category management team procures lowcost sustainable and reliable energy solutions enabling Amazons fulfillment and transportation operations to delight customers. These solutions primarily include electric/gas utilities renewable energy and storage hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cells microgrids and energy audit services.

3 years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management in indirect categories such as professional services support or maintenance spend supply chain forecasting manufacturing sourcing/procurement or vendor management experience
2 years of working cross functionally with tech and nontech teams experience
Bachelors degree
Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
Experience being responsible/leading large and complex negotiations
3 years of driving end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership experience
Experience building processes project management and schedules
Experience in stakeholder management dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience of Six Sigma/ Lean analytical techniques

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $141500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
