The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the worlds largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP believes that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children women and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy dignified lives. Each year WFP assists 86.7 million people in 83 countries. Every day some 5600 WFPchartered trucks are on the road 92 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. These numbers speak to WFPs unparalleled reputation as an emergency responder one that is often the first on the scene in the most difficult environments.
WFP also works with partners to strengthen the resilience of communities most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition through longterm development programmes aimed at boosting food security local economies education employment and gender equality. While hunger and malnutrition are the worlds largest solvable issues the needs are still immense and growing. 821 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger.
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for engaging the private sector (corporations individuals foundations) through highimpact partnerships in support of WFPs strategic priorities and through individual giving to build and retain support from the general public worldwide. To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster WFP has significantly increased resources in recent years from donor governments. We are now investing in and grow private sector fundraising to reach more people.
WFPs private sector strategyproposes to dramatically increase income from individuals to help reach more people and get to Zero Hunger faster using new digital engagement tools to reach audiences across the globe in a flexible and costeffective way.
Traditional individual fundraising in our sector was primarily conducted through offline channels and implemented through national fundraising operations. The individual fundraising market now looks very different with the vast majority of potential donors having a digital presence and comfort with transacting online. WFP has a unique opportunity to define its approach amid this digital change and leapfrog peers through its creation of a digitalled fundraising strategy that engages people worldwide from one centralised team. Our digital focus elevates the importance of an agile approach to delivering opportunities to engage.
WFP is committed to growing private sector fundraising with a focus on fundraising from individuals and have developed two products WFP and Share The Meal (STM). Individual giving is recognized as a fundraising channel that has been successfully used by other UN agencies generating the bulk of their private sector income. Share the Meal is a successful app. Both products are digital first.

This should be completed in line with the launch of the new donate page to ensure transparency of WFPs processes and to be accountable to WFPs individual
supporters.
