Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Health Professions the Director of Nursing is responsible for fulltime program administrative responsibilities. They provide management and supervision for all aspects of the Nursing Program including but not limited to faculty adjunct faculty and staff; curriculum and course schedules; student progression; budget and strategic planning; and accreditation status and approval from the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Job Duties
Provide immediate supervision and leadership for faculty adjunct faculty and staff.
Develop implement and manage budget technology and strategic plans for the office.
Develop class schedules; monitor student enrollment and make appropriate adjustments.
Maintain records germane to the operation of the Nursing Program.
Conduct classroom lectures and clinical experiences as needed.
Act as the primary liaison between the faculty and senior administration.
Initiate and complete midyear and annual employee performance reviews and maintain related records.
Oversee hiring action for both fulltime and adjunct faculty; assure all classes are staffed by qualified faculty; provide training appropriate to courses taught.
Partner with administration and other offices in planning faculty and staff development programs
Assist the MultiCampus Programs Division in offcampus site functions as appropriate.
Provide assistance and direction in curriculum development for the program.
Perform academic planning and periodic analysis of existing divisional courses/programs.
Assist the Dean of Health Professions by continually evaluating faculty and staff current curricula instructional facilities and instructional methods.
Assume responsibility for agreements with community health agencies utilized for clinical learning experiences.
Encourage and promote the use of instructional technology in the classroom.
Maintain statistical data regarding the program and students accreditation for the Nursing Program and approval for the Nursing Program from the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Assist in recruitment advisement and registration activities as appropriate.
Assist with implementing and complying with policies of the college Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Ensure that the nursing courses are congruent with and viable for business and industry needs within the Colleges service area.
Develop and/or continue to maintain an advisory committee as appropriate.
Assist in preparing proposals and implementing grants (federal state and private).
In all duties assigned show a commitment to customer service to include students college employees and the community at large.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee.
Two years of experience in a healthcare facility.
Five years of experience in fulltime teaching and/or administrative positions in an approved school of professional nursing.
Experience in curriculum development.
Experience providing academic advisement.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
Conversational ability or fluency in a second language
Community college experience
Experience in grant writing and application of innovations in instruction and emerging technologies.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Technology Skills: MS Office Suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems.
Professional demeanor and proficient in a teamoriented environment
Manage time and workload effectively to meet strategic planning budgeting and other assigned deadlines.
Exhibits dependability and accountability to stakeholders.
Local travel may be required between multiple college campuses as well as to high schools in the Northeast State service area.
