What will you do:
As a member of Cornells Infrastructure team the Network Engineer will play a key role in supporting and maintaining campus IT operations including wired and wireless networks data centers telecommunications facilities and logistics services. This position combines technical expertise with a collaborative customeroriented approach and encompasses three primary focus areas:
- Network Infrastructure: Provision and manage IP subnets VLANs wireless access points and VPN pools; perform DNS and DHCP configurations; troubleshoot service requests; analyze network logs; and assist with wireless designs.
- IT Facilities: Configure and maintain data center and telecommunications infrastructure commission and decommission equipment and oversee service requests in collaboration with external vendors.
- Logistics Support: Manage Return Materials Authorizations (RMAs) track and transport IT materials oversee inventory processes and support recycling efforts.
Additionally the Network Engineer will collaborate with engineering teams campus IT professionals and external vendors to ensure smooth operation of Cornells critical IT systems.

We are looking for a Network Engineer who demonstrates strong organizational skills a troubleshooting mindset and an eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication abilities a customeroriented approach and a commitment to fostering diversity equity inclusion and wellbeing.
Required qualifications include:
- A bachelors degree and up to two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
- Working knowledge of the OSI network model IP and Ethernet operations and routing and switching protocols.
- Knowledge of DNS and DHCP protocol operations in production environments.
- Understanding of network monitoring and security protocols telecommunications wired and wireless networking and structured wiring principles.
- Understanding of network monitoring protocols and their use.
- Understanding of network security as it relates to the protection of network assets
- Broad understanding of telecommunications wired and wireless data networking and structured wiring principles.
- Basic knowledge of data center and telecommunications facilities operations.
- Ability to read technical documents and manage materials handling inventory and shipping tasks effectively.
Preferred qualifications include experience in Higher Education or R1 Research Universities knowledge of hardware/software from vendors like Juniper Aruba Fortinet Cisco and familiarity with systems like Team Dynamix and PCR360.
