Purpose
CEEW seeks to hire asuitable candidate for the position of Programme Lead for its Energy Transitionteam. The Energy Transitions teams vision is to support India leapfrog to aclean energy future albeit in a socially equitable and environmentallyresponsible manner. We generate evidence for change engage withpolicymakers and private sector to devise and implement progressive policies regulationsand market mechanisms and evaluate the impact of government initiatives on theground.
The candidate willcontribute to expanding research work on supporting accelerated deployment ofutilityscale RE and examining prospects of new and frontier applications of REin Indian markets. We are looking for an enthusiastic skilled anddetailoriented researcher with a specific focus on identifying and addressingtechnical policy regulatory financial and market hurdles that inhibit the accelerateddeployment of renewables. Further the position requires a comprehensiveunderstanding of tariff mechanisms central government and statelevel policiesand regulations handson experience in stakeholder engagement (includingdiscoms electricity regulators state governments and developers)understanding of consumer behaviour and the power markets.

Job Duties and Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities
Conceptualise andimplement new research projects methodologies and market solutions forrenewable energy sector
Actively monitor andengage on policy and regulatory developments such as ALMM Green OpenAccessElectricity Rules state RE policies etc. at national and regional levelsimpacting uptake of RE in India.
Undertake studies toassess evolving RE industry landscape and potential barriers and proposeinnovative solutions in the form of policy amendments new schemes orregulations.
Support states andrelevant state agencies in fulfing their Renewable Energy ambitions acrossvarious schemes by providing implementation support towards creating enablinglocal ecosystem.
Publish highquality research reports policypapers issue briefs memos opinionpieces blogs etc.
Develop trustbased relationships with keystakeholders especially with discoms ministries/departments regulators statenodal agencies developers and civil society organisations etc.
Programme Assistance
Lead projectimplementation by contributing towards preparing detailed activity plans and timelines resource planning stakeholder managementand donor engagement.
Support Team lead inengaging with potential donors to raise funds on new ideas programmes orinitiatives.
Lead teams outreach efforts includingorganising webinars/physical events representing CEEW in industry events andwriting opeds briefs and reports.
Write memos briefs and issue notes which couldbe circulated among senior Government officials and other internal and externalstakeholders
Building stronger ties with government industryand institutional partners
Selection Criteria
Qualification
Masters degree with aspecialisation in renewable energy technologies economics public policy orrelated field
Sound understanding ofIndias energy markets and policy and regulatory environment
Strong researchbackground with an adequate understanding of research methods and quantitativeskills
Work experience
At least 8 10 years of relevant work experience in the field of research policy/industry engagement and project management in the area of electricity policy electricity distribution and renewable energy
Prior experience ofwriting white papers articles policy briefs and research reports
Strong track record of team and project management includingtimely delivery of outputs
Demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement at stateleveland experience of working with public and private institutions within andoutside India
Key skills
Stronginterpersonal and influencing skills
Proficiency in MSExcel is a must. Understanding of STATA/R/Python andother data visualisation tools would be an added advantage
Excellentwritten and oral communication skills
Ability to summarise and communicate the insights/findings inwritten and oral formats
Proficiencyin Hindi and English language
