Profile of a Natick Educator |
JOB GOAL: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction provides strategic leadership and oversight of the districts curriculum instructional practices coaching of leadership teams and professional development initiatives. This position ensures that educational programs are rigorous aligned with state and federal standards and designed to meet the diverse needs of all students. The Director collaborates with administrators teachers and staff to foster a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. |
QUALIFICATIONS |
Education: Masters degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction Educational Leadership or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
Professional Certification: Licensure of Principal/ Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director
Specialized Knowledge:
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity equity inclusion and social justice as they relate to student staff and community engagement and cultivation
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role in curriculum and instruction preferably in a K12 setting.Experience with Google Suite (Drive Docs Sheets Slides Classroom etc. and PowerSchool preferred but will train the right candidate.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development instructional strategies and assessment practices.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform curriculum and instructional decisions.
- Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in integrating educational technology into curriculum and instruction.
- Commitment to fostering equity inclusion and cultural responsiveness in education.
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Bilingual skills especially in Spanish and Portuguese are highly desirable
- Candidates should have a passion for working with students families and colleagues
- Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
- Candidates must be able to multitask in a fastpaced supportive environment that nurtures student growth
- Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing timesensitive deadlines for work production
Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent if such a substitution brings a strong candidate forward.

Curriculum Development & Implementation
- Lead the design development and evaluation of districtwide curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards district goals and instructional needs.
- Oversee the adoption and integration of instructional materials resources and technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Regularly assess curriculum effectiveness using datadriven analysis making necessary adjustments to improve student outcomes.
- Ensure all curricular programs are inclusive culturally responsive and promote equitable access to highquality instruction.
- Conduct curriculum audits in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent
Instructional Leadership
- Collaborate with principals and teachers to implement researchbased instructional strategies that support student success.
- Provide guidance for differentiated instruction addressing the needs of diverse learners including gifted students multilingual learners and students with special needs.
- Identify trends in student data to inform instructional practices and enhance learning opportunities.
- Establish and monitor systems for the consistent delivery of highquality instruction across all schools.
Professional Development
- Design and implement professional learning programs that align with district goals and enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other collaborative frameworks to support teacher growth and instructional excellence.
- Provide professional development for evaluators on best practices for assessing and supporting educators ensuring evaluations are meaningful and drive instructional improvement.
- Train evaluators in evidencebased observation techniques constructive feedback strategies and coaching methods to foster educator growth.
- Stay current on educational trends research and best practices sharing insights to maintain innovative equitable and effective instruction.
Assessment & Accountability
- Oversee the administration and analysis of standardized testing and other assessments to drive instructional improvements.
- Use data to monitor student achievement identify achievement gaps and implement strategies to promote equity in education.
- Provide reports to the superintendent school board and other stakeholders on curriculum effectiveness and student performance.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with district leaders to align curriculum and instruction initiatives with strategic goals.
- Act as a liaison between the district and external agencies including the state education department on curriculum and instruction matters.
- Develop and manage the department budget to ensure effective allocation of resources.
- Promote equity in education by identifying and addressing achievement gaps ensuring all students have access to highquality curriculum and instruction that prepares them for college career and life readiness.
- Work closely with Director of Student Services Director of Counseling and SEL Assistant Director of ML and Coordinator of Data to implement a coherent MTSS system to improve student outcomes
