Job Description

This is a parttime temporary/seasonal position.Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool.As vacancies occur they are filled from the pool.

The employment/experience section on this application must be completely filled out AND/OR a resume must be attached. Applications which do not have either the education/experience section completed OR a resume attached will not be considered.

This position is subject to a criminal history check and preemployment drug test. Upon hire the selected candidate must appear for inperson onboarding at the Carson City or Fallon campus.

By submitting an application for this position you agree that WNC may pull and review your DMV driving record as part of the selection process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in the subject matter to be taught. If the class is a safety or physical education class instructors must hold a Current First Aid and CPR certification and certification in the physical education class they want to offer. Copies of certifications must be provided with course proposal.

  • Experience teaching college level courses is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty staff and students.

  • Fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned courses as specified in curriculum and be available to students during the contract period.

  • Prepare course syllabi course outlines (if necessary) and related instructional materials.

  • Maintain a professional conduct.

  • Maintain student records including attendance (through signin and class roster).

  • Administer and submit student evaluations.

  • Communicate with the WNC Community Education office to provide feedback from class including issues or concerns.

  • Understand and comply with WNC safety and security policies.

  • Participate in student retention activities as requested.

  • Promote college educational programs and services to the communities served by WNC.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcript is sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Western Nevada College Human Resources Office within 30 calendar days from the effective date of employment.

Academic degrees must have been awarded by regionally accredited institutions.

Employment is contingent on the completion of appropriate background verification which may include criminal history credit history sex and violent offender registry education verification licensure and employment history to be administered by the Western Nevada College Human Resources office.
