Part Time Professional Tutor Seabrook Tutoring Services
Department:Writing Center
Location: Columbia MO
Type: Parttime
Pay:$13 $18 per hour (Pay range may vary based on geographic location)

Job Summary:
The tutoring center is seeking parttime professional tutors to hold walkin group tutoring sessions for Columbia College students in the following subjects: accounting behavioral statistics biology chemistry computer science finance management information systems math nursing and physics. Minimum qualifications include a bachelors degree or significant nonacademic experience in the field as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. Prior
tutoring experience is preferred in all subjects. Columbia College graduates are preferred. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Essential Functions:
  • Hold two to twenty 220 regularlyscheduled hours per week of tutoring as agreed upon with supervisor.
  • Tutor students directly in content and study skills for tutors assigned courses.
  • Spend down time during tutoring sessions reviewing course content texts and concepts.
  • Maintain accurate records of student visits to tutoring sessions.
  • Maintain contact with Tutoring Coordinator and faculty.
  • Participate in biannual professional development meetings.

Skills:
  • Ability to fluently read write and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with the following but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technologyrelated software and equipment including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Proficiency for using webbased technologies including database systems.
  • Ability to work independently or team environment with or without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal customer service and organizational skills with all constituents.
Education:
  • Bachelors degree or significant nonacademic experience in the field.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions; however possible exposure to hazards and physical risks to personal safety may occur while operating certain equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
