SUMMARY OF DUTIES
As a Benefit and Eligibility Worker you will:
Interview applicants and determine eligibility for people applying for various programs and benefits through interviewing gathering and assessing information. Programs we administer include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Long Term Care (LTC) services Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) Domestic Violence services and various Medicaid (Health insurance) programs.
Play a critical role in providing a safety net that supports better outcomes for Oregonians.
Provide resources that support individual and family stability.
Provide personcentered services with a traumainformed approach to identify needs.
Create a work environment where everyone feels welcomed appreciated and valued
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work schedule will be MondayFriday 8 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST) on site and in person each workday at the Redmond OEP office.
The office is constructed of cubicles so work is often interrupted and noise level is sometimes high.
Occasional overtime may be available. Travel may be required to meet business needs or to attend employee training classes. Must possess a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record to use state vehicles. Reasonable accommodations per the ADA or creative solutions in certain cases may be used to meet this need.
Serves a diverse range of customers with compassion and professionalism through a trauma informed lens. May encounter angry hostile frustrated individuals as well as those with behavioral or cognitive challenges.
Work is fast paced in an environment with constantly evolving policies and procedures. Repetitive motions prolonged sitting and daily computer and technology use. This position will be on the phone regularly or process work electronically.
Work may be reviewed by leads supervisors Quality Assurance audits or through other quality activities such as reviewing information in ONE or phone calls with Oregonians.
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS
Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by:
interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting AND
applying the policies rules and guidelines applicable to the clients situation.
OR
An equivalent combination of education training and experience relative to the class concept.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:
We are looking for candidates with:
Experience with Assistance Programs: Demonstrating experience in understanding and processing eligibility for various state assistance programs ensuring applicants meet the required criteria.
Strong Communication Skills: Proven ability to clearly explain program information and eligibility requirements to applicants and collaborate effectively with coworkers and community partners.
ProblemSolving and Customer Service: Experience in resolving issues and providing respectful personcentered support to applicants while addressing their unique needs.
Time Management and Accuracy: Experience in managing multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring timely and accurate completion of eligibility determinations.
Team Oriented: Experience working within and building relationships in a team environment.
Managing high Volume of Work: Experience completing tasks duties projects and obligations with deadlines that produce quality results
