Job Description:
A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Bone Biology and Metabolism Laboratory in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toledo Health Sciences Campus. This laboratory studies the role of bone in regulation of systemic energy metabolism and bone pathophysiology in metabolic diseases and aging. Research topics include the role of osteocytes in regulation of glucose fatty acid and insulin metabolism in bone effects of antidiabetic therapies on bone and animal models of fracture healing in diabetes. The laboratory is an internal part of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Research (CeDER). The CeDER comprises of investigators with the interest in the role of endocrine skeletal CNS and renal systems in the pathology of diabetic disease. Excellent possibilities for collaboration with bioengineering researchers. Preferentially a candidate has a background in bone biology and signaling and experience in animal research.
Qualifications:
Doctorate degree (PhD MD VMD or DDS)
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Publication and grant writing skills
Able to read understand and follow written instructions and comprehend verbal
instructions given in English
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in molecular/structural biology of bone
Innovative regarding new experimental approaches
