About the Organization
The Department of Elections promotes and supports accurate fair open and secure elections for the citizens of the Commonwealth. Elect ensures the proper administration of election laws campaign finance disclosure compliance and voter registration processes in the state by promulgating rules regulations issuing instructions and providing information to local Electoral Boards and general registrars.
The Department of Elections envisions a highly modern efficient and professional electoral process that is trustworthy and accountable at all levels and engages Virginias diverse citizenry in the most fundamental right in a democratic society: the right to vote.
About the Position
The Elections and Registration Specialist ensures compliance with state and federal laws regarding the administration of elections. Collaborate with multiple internal and external partners to ensure the agency fosters an integrated approach to election administration policy and procedures. Provide appropriate guidance and support to Virginias election officials and Department of Elections (ELECT) staff via research process supervision and liaison activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail while handling multiple tasks under strict deadlines
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to provide services and meet goals
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of office and records management personal computer equipment and office software
Ability to analyze develop and recommend procedures and implement quality control measures
Ability to collaborate with other team members to develop and deliver quality training materials
Ability to establish and utilize tracking mechanisms and compile reports for internal and external use
Ability to interpret election laws and explain their intent relating to election administration candidacy requirements conduct of elections and other elections related matters
Ability to work with local state and federal organizations as well as private individuals in order to promote service delivery
Knowledge of state and federal election law
Experience developing technical guidance and training materials
Knowledge of database system concepts and ability to use a centralized database to manage and track information
Additional Considerations
Experience in voter registration and election administration desired.
