Job Title: Student Records Specialist & Assistant Baseball Coach

Campus Location:Walters State Community College Morristown Campus Employees are assigned to a home location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.
Job Purpose:This position serves a dual support role within the area of Student Services. As a Student Records Specialist this position will assist the Office of Student Records with support for our students with official transcripts graduation drop/add of courses and enrollment verifications. This position will also serve as an Assistant Baseball Coach working to recruit and train the best studentathletes to play baseball at Walters State. This position guidance and direction to studentathletes in training both on the baseball field and in the weight room and also serves as an academic liaison for studentathletes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coaching/Student Development: Responsible for teaching players proper techniques utilizing drills to improve performance of team. Responsible for directing student athlete training which includes developing and overseeing strength and conditioning programs and weight room as well as developing and conducting baseballoriented drills. Provides academic support for all student athletes in the baseball program.
- Responsible for; organizing reviewing scanning and electronically indexing files and transcripts. assisting current/former students regarding transcripts graduation adding/dropping classes enrollment status changes enrollment verifications course repeats and audits.
- Responsible for; recruiting student athletes which involves traveling to athletic events and utilizing multiple forms of communication; as well as contributing to the maintenance of a social media presence by designing graphics and updating social media platforms.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelors degree from a fouryear college or university
- Minimum of 5 years college coaching experience
- Very high interpersonal communication skills for interacting with students recruits and motivating players.
- Must be able to throw batting practice
- Strong organizational time management and customer service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed reports.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as a computer telephone fax machine printer copier calculator and scanner.
- Thorough knowledge of baseball rules and tactics and knowledge of the Junior College landscape.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in College/University Records Office.
- Prior experience as a Junior College Assistant Coach with experience recruiting the state of Tennessee

Leadership & Supervisory:The incumbent is responsible for the supervision and direction of up to 60 studentathletes as well as building a relationship with them prior to their arrival at Walters State. The position operates with limited supervision at times and most tasks are performed without consultation of others. Resources policies or a supervisor are readily available if needed. Work is checked largely for progress towards the completion of objectives.
Environment & Working Conditions:This position will experience a varied environment. Incumbents work in an office environment will include moderate noise and interruption. Incumbent will also be exposed to extreme heat humidity noise and temperature changes are possible. Occasional exposure to extreme cold during the winter season. Bodily injury could occur including damage from flying debris or hearing damage from the operation of lawn mowers pitching machines edging tools or eaters.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
- Sits at computer for intermittent periods of time and uses several different software applications creating the possibility of neck back and eye strain.
- Ability to safely operate heavy machinery such as lawnmowers
- Hours can vary depending on the scope and nature of an event such as tournaments or games at distant locations.
- Lifting heavy items is required such as coolers baseballs pitching machines uniform boxes.
- Working on weekends occurs on a regular basis.
