Regional Business Development Manager

West Midlands

Our West Midlands and South West business are seeking a driven and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team and contribute to our continued growth and success in the region.

What you will be doing:

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying developing and securing new business opportunities within the public private and social housing construction market. This role requires a strong understanding of the construction industry excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success in business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients projects and market trends. Analyse competitor activities and develop strategies to differentiate Galliford Trys offering.
  • Lead Generation: Proactively identify and generate new leads through networking industry events online platforms and referrals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decisionmakers at potential and existing clients including public sector developers and consultants.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the development of compelling proposals and presentations that clearly articulate Galliford Trys value proposition and address client needs. This includes collaborating with preconstruction and operational teams.
  • Negotiation & Closing: successfully negotiate and close deals ensuring profitability and alignment with company objectives and values.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Manage the opportunity pipeline track progress and provide regular updates to the senior leadership team on business development activities and performance. Utilise and manage CRM software effectively.
  • Networking & Industry Engagement: Actively participate in industry events conferences and associated activities to build relationships and promote Galliford Trys capability people and brand.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including preconstruction internal framework sector leads operations and commercial teams to ensure seamless project and client satisfaction.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular reports on business development activities including lead generation proposal submissions and win rates. Analyse data to identify areas for improvement and optimise business development strategies.

About You:

  • Proven track record of success in business development within the construction industry ideally with tier 1 main contractor experience.
  • Strong understanding of the construction process including design estimating and project management.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients consultants and internal teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be positive enthusiastic and personable.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Have an eye for detail and commitment to right first time quality.
  • Selfmotivated resultsoriented and able to work independently.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
