What You Will Achieve
The Director Data Solution Engineering will join a team of global highly skilled colleagues across R&D Data Solution Delivery and Engineering. This position will be expected to contribute to strategy portfolio management governance and lead multiple teams of Data Solutions engineers to ensure the delivery of highquality data and advanced analytic solutions.
The role will closely partner and strategize with leaders across the Pfizer Research and Development organization to ensure that key business objectives are being met and optimized by digital solutions. In addition this role will partner with Digital Creation Centers to leverage and create new capabilities that support the growing business needs.
The ability to operate in a transparent manner effectively influence senior development and operations associates lead crossfunctional matrixed teams and engineer and architect transformative datadriven solutions and assets is essential.
Areas of technical leadership include designing and delivering reporting data management analytics and AI pipelines that enable data lakes exploratory analysis feature engineering and predictive model design and build. Generally the colleague will have responsibility to lead teams in architecting designing and building data models pipelines and products across various domains to power MLOps platforms datadriven applications and software and enable business intelligence solutions. This role also involves handson coding to develop and implement these solutions.
A successful candidates will be teamoriented will demonstrate leadership strategic planning consulting skills and will have pharmaceutical experience while directing teams to deliver global analytic solutions.
This role requires strong interpersonal communication influencing analytical and problemsolving skills along with overseeing the adoption of agile best practices. Generally the colleague will have responsibility to lead teams in architecting designing and building data models pipelines and products across various domains to power ML ops platforms datadriven applications and software and enable business intelligence solutions. Additionally the role will help drive DevSecOps solution delivery to increase delivery quality while reducing delivery time.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage crossfunctional data engineering teams set objectives and oversee complex R&D projects.
Incorporate feedback to improve team practices and resolve bottlenecks in R&D data workflows.
Collaborate on and help mature a data solutions engineering roadmap using DevSecOps and cloudnative technologies. Develop mature and leverage existing foundational patterns for efficient delivery.
Collaborate with peers who are developers and engineers to ensure best practices and quick value addition.
Promote data security and compliance in line with pharmaceutical industry regulations.
Partner on R&D Engineering center of excellence activities and oversee automation services delivery.
Design scalable solutions for user success in R&D. Review technical designs and provide strategic recommendations.
Oversee multiple data delivery projects from initiation to deployment. Develop timelines evaluate risks and communicate progress.
Define and influence project scope goals deliverables and financial estimates that support business goals in collaboration with leadership technical delivery team and stakeholders.
Collaborate with business stakeholders data product managers architects and development teams to develop the product strategy and roadmap that delivers the quality of data and actionable insights to business.
Establish a culture of high performance transparency and continuous improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in computer science Data Science Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
10 years of experience in data engineering or data solutions with a strong background in pharmaceutical enterprise data particularly in R&D.
7 years of experience Data warehousing data modeling and data transformation
7 years working on SQL with strong skills to do data investigation root cause analysis and cross system analysis on DBs such as Snowflake Databricks Delta Table Oracle Sql Server Teradata etc.
Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to get immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and deliver technical advancements.
Demonstrated experience in designing supporting and maintaining data analytic platforms with deep expertise in data modeling data governance and data pipeline management principles.
Excellent problemsolving and communication skills with the ability to provide strategic recommendations and communicate progress and risks to senior management.
Understanding of data security and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
Handson experience leading and working as part of Agile teams processes practices and DevSecOps.
Proficiency in cloudnative technologies data architecture and engineering best practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in computer science Data Science Engineering or a related field.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or similar.
Expertise with cloudnative data technologies: Databricks Snowflake etc.
Knowledge of advanced analytics tools: Tableau Power BI or Spotfire.
Experience in a regulated industry beyond pharmaceuticals such as finance or healthcare.
Strong multidiscipline experience with a preference for experience in technology strategy and management management consulting and engineering.
Experience working effectively in a distributed remote team environment.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156600.00 to $261000.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0 of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
