Job Description

The Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer will support a growing portfolio of analytic capabilities serving various DoD and IC customers including the Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) US Space Command US Strategic Command Air Force Studies and Analysis and the Air Force Research Laboratory.Current lines of effort include development and integration of models for all classes of threats to space systems development of innovative approaches to joint mission thread and chain analyses and exploration of concepts for mixedresolution multidomain campaign analysis.

The Engineer will adopt Model Based Systems Engineering principles and practices to develop robust modeling architectures to drive force design and CONOPS development for the US Space Force.A firm foundation in systems engineering operations research and objectoriented software coding (e.g. Python C MATLAB) is essential for exceling in this position.The Engineer will develop Pythonbased algorithms for representing chain performance based on available subject matter expertise and existing/developing mission thread descriptions.Applying a general understanding of military operations the Engineer will build upon current work that applies Bayesian Networks Markov Chains and other stochastic techniques to estimate mission performance.The Engineer will integrate development in modeling and simulation tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and AFSIM.

The Engineer will assist the Portfolio Lead with preparing technical products integrating efforts across mission partners and interacting with Government customers.Strong communication skills are required to present novel technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences.

Government customers are primarily located in Colorado Springs Omaha Albuquerque Dayton and the National Capital Region.While this position does not have a specified location the Engineer must be willing to travel regularly to Government sites with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Create refine and present data products with compelling narratives that provide analytically rigorous conclusions to both senior leaders and nontechnical audiences.
  • Work efficiently with the Government in crosscontractor teams and individually to identify and isolate analytic logical and syntax anomalies in data algorithms models and simulations.
  • Conduct analysis and create custom metrics within a discrete event simulator framework like AFSIM and perform analysis with postprocessing software like Python R Excel etc.
  • Provide quantitative answers to challenging space systemsfocused questions.
  • Support subject matter experts who advise senior leaders on methodological analytical and domainspecific issues.
  • Analyze the accuracy of algorithms within modeling frameworks and collaborate to discover improvements.
  • Assist the Portfolio Lead with the development of technical communication products.
  • Must be SCI eligible (background investigation within last 5 years or in continuous monitoring) and able to work regularly in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS approximately 10 of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Mechanical Electrical or Systems Engineering or Operations Research/Mathematics (or related).
  • 9years relevant experience with Bachelors Degree 7 years relevant experience with Masters Degree.Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • Objectoriented software coding experience (e.g. Python C MATLAB).
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering SysML and modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.

Preferred Requirements

  • Masters degree in Aerospace Mechanical Electrical or Systems Engineering or Operations Research/Mathematics (or related).
  • Experience in modeling simulating and analyzing DoD systems at various levels of granularity (e.g. engagement mission campaign).
  • Strong skills in critical thinking and problem solving
