Visiting Assistant Professor of Higher Education
Job Position Description
The Department of Educational Studies within the College of Education at Purdue University invites applications for a 9month position Visiting Assistant Professor of Higher Education to begin no later than August 2024. The Higher Education program has delivered a redesigned researchintensive and successful Ph.D. program since 2019. In Fall 2024 the program area will begin offering a new online Masters degree with a concentration in Higher Education Systems Policy and Leadership. The faculty are dedicated to preparing future administrators and faculty members in the field of higher education. This position will serve both the Ph.D. and Masters level degree programs and is set for an initial term of one year with a potential second mutually agreed upon year.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Engage in scholarship with Ph.D. students serving as research mentor for student peerreviewed research papers
- Help coordinate support services for the new Masters program
- Teach a variety of courses in both the PhD and the new Masters program 2 classes in Fall and Spring semesters
- Guide doctoral students in their area of research and/or practice expertise
- Contribute to and engage in service to the program department college and profession.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a Ph.D. with a concentration in higher education or related field by the position start date.
- A strong record or demonstrated potential of research productivity in peerreviewed publications in high quality journals.
- Ability to teach courses in both the PhD and Masters programs in higher education.
- Ability to work in the US without immigration sponsorship from Purdue University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Strong methodological experience in one or more areas of inquiry (e.g. singlecase experimental research randomized control trials systematic literature review).
