TITLE: Assistant Principal Sky Valley Education Center
REPORTS TO: Director of Sky Valley Education Center
POSITION SUMMARY
At the direction of the Program Director work closely with parents center staff and district administrative staff to analyze plan and coordinate the multiple programs of the Sky Valley Education Center to ensure highquality student achievement passion and family satisfaction.
At the direction of the Program Director assist in the coordination of multidistrict programs such as the SnoIsle Summer School East County Pilot Project EvCC East County Youth Reengagement Program and other collaborative efforts to serve our community as they arise.
Assist the Program Director in maintaining a detailed budget and learning resource information to meet state requirements found in the Alternative Learning Experience rules and regulations.
At the direction of Program Director supervise and evaluate professional technical and clerical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Washington State Administrative credential
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience. Must hold a valid WA State teaching license and be able to maintain that endorsement in good standing
- Experience in alternative education settings and/or experience working with homeschooled youth is desired
- Experience in participatory management group processes
- Experience with and sensitivity to issues of equity and diversity
- Experience in all phases of budget management with particular attention to recordkeeping responsibilities required by the states alternative rules and regulations
Special Requirements:
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
- I9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
- HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date District provided)
- Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date District provided
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the State of Washingtons Alternative Learning Experience rules and regulations.
- Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sky Valley Education Centers Parent Partnership Program views the parent as a students primary teacher and the work of the Center as supplemental to that parents efforts. With such a variety the Assistant Principal must work closely with a wide range of parent committees and use surveys communitywide meetings and regular discussions with students and parents to ensure program direction and needs are met. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Certificated and classified staff evaluations
- Responsibility for HIB and other disciplinary issues
- Campus security/safety
- Compliance with ALE rules and regulations and district rules and regulations
- Customer service and collaboration with SVEC parents
- Oversight and performance of districtrequired drills safety committee meetings and other requirements as assigned.
- Adhere to federal and state laws and district regulations policies procedures and practices
- Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse harassment intimidation bullying boundary invasions fights substance abuse etc.
- Abide by employment provisions provided
- Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
- Maintain regular punctual attendance.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical/mental requirements described are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job and may be supplemented as necessary.
This position involves sitting a portion of the time but does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perception of sound near and far vision depth perception; handling and working with educational and psychological materials; and providing highly technical oral and written information and reports. The job is performed with the majority of time spent indoors and under minimal temperature variations; a portion of the day will be time spent outdoors and is subject to a variety of changing weather conditions and potentially uneven/slippery surfaces.
Additional physical requirements include the following:
- Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving 10 to 20 pounds;
- Specific vision requirements include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to focus;
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
- Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
- Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
This position is that of Assistant Principal and is represented by the Monroe Principals Association. This position will work a schedule of 260 days. Salary and benefits as determined by the Monroe Principals Association.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES
Performance shall be evaluated annually according to Board and administrative policies and procedures.
