Job Description
Storage & Backup Administrator
Experience 712 Yrs
Location Pune Onsite
- Manage Backup/Monitoring/Antivirus/Nessus/Qradar endpoint.
- Manage various HA cluster.
- Ensure daily/weekly/monthly backup are performed successfully on daily basis.
- Documentation Create/Update SOPs and desk side notes.
- Exceptionally good written and verbal communication skills
- Understand and provide input in designing of the infrastructure with optimized approach.
- Operate Storage in main Datacenter and DR site.
- Providing operational support of the Dell EMC PowerStore NetApp FAS2750Dell EMC HPE NAS environment.
- Create manage and maintain FCIP replications configurations between main site and DR.
- Administer and maintain SAN configuration and operations.
- Create manage and maintain storage configurations and replication between main site and DR.
- Create and manage Storage Pools Volumes Snapshots
- Conduct regular performance tuning for the hosted storage system.
- Ensure License compliance for Storage and SAN environment.
- Work with technology providers to upgrade Storages operating system and Firmware to new versions.
- Keep up to date documentation for the storage diagrams and baselines.
- Provides system administration and maintenance support on Linux and UNIXbased environments in client/server network and data storage capacities.
- Administer and maintain NetApp storage arrays including FAS AFF and ONTAP systems.
- Perform regular system monitoring capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure optimal functionality.
- Manage NetApp Snapshots SnapMirror and SnapVault technologies for data protection and disaster recovery.
- Ensure data availability and redundancy using appropriate configurations like RAID LUN provisioning and storage virtual machines (SVMs).
- Manage the creation modification and removal of storage volumes LUNs Qtrees and NFS/CIFS shares.
- Perform capacity planning and forecasting based on current usage trends and future business needs.
- Implement and enforce storage policies including data retention access controls and security protocols.
Advanced knowledge and experience with tapebased backup hardware
Administer configure and manage enterprise backup solutions (e.g. Veritas NetBackup AvamarData Domain).
Ensure regular and reliable backup operations for systems databases applications and virtual environments.
Manage backup schedules and monitoring ensuring all backups complete successfully.
Maintain data recovery processes including the of test restores to validate data integrity.
Configure and optimize storage for backup systems ensuring efficient use of resources.
Experience with deduplication storage systems with Veritas Netbackup Avamar and Data Domain being preferred
Experience with SAN Fabric Technologies
Experience in installation and management of integration clients
Experience in Tape Library management
Perform daily monitoring and management of the backup environment
Perform problem management and incident correlation on reoccurring issues
Create and provide reports for backup and storage environments related activities and tasks
Create and update documentation for backup environments
Be an escalation point on all backup issues
Provide 24x7 IT operations support in a team on a rotation and oncall basis
Develop and exhibit technical subject matter expertise on the assigned backup and storage systems along with associated processes and procedures
Continuously monitor backup systems for performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures or data integrity issues promptly.
Analyze backup logs and performance reports to identify trends or potential issues before they impact operations.
Perform root cause analysis for backup failures and implement corrective actions.
Deploy and configure backup solutions including backup servers storage devices and client agents.
Regularly update backup software applying patches and upgrades to ensure compatibility and performance.
Scale backup systems as required to meet the growing data protection needs of the organization.
Mandatory Skills for Backup Administration:
Experience with tools like Backup Exec Veeam NetBackup Commvault or Acronis.
Setting up and managing backup schedules (full incremental and differential backups).
Expertise in disaster recovery and restoring systems applications and data.
Familiarity with cloudbased backup solutions (Azure Backup AWS Backup etc..
Mandatory Skills for Storage Management:
Proficiency in SAN NAS Storage along with Storage Area Network.
Experience with Dell EMC NetApp HPE or similar storage solutions.
Understanding RAID levels and their use cases for performance and redundancy.
Integration with VMware vSphere HyperV or similar virtualization platforms.
Expertise in Fiber Channel (FC) and iSCSI protocols.
Using tools to analyze storage performance (e.g. IOPS latency).
Techniques to optimize storage utilization and backup windows.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in backup solutions (e.g. Veritas Certified Professional etc..
- ITIL certification or experience with ITIL processes for incident change and problem management.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware HyperV) and their integration with backup solutions.
- Familiarity with database backup and recovery (e.g. Oracle SQL Server MySQL).
- 8 years of Storage admin experience
- Deep knowledge of Dell EMC PowerStore NAS environment
- Deep knowledge of SAN Switches and SAN fabric
