Our People and Culture team are setting up a deadly new Aboriginal Employee Engagement team who will lead the charge in enhancing Aboriginal employment cultural safety and career and capability development across the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

About the Role

As the Manager youll lead the design and deliver important aboriginal employee engagement programs with the team whilst building organisation capability to drive meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal staff. Youll give expert advice build strong relationships and align with departmental goals and legal requirements.

You will create and lead initiatives for Aboriginal employment cultural safety career development and capability. You will provide expert advice on talent management and workforce strategies work with stakeholders to build partnerships and support program implementation and ensure cultural safety is integrated into organisational frameworks including WHS and diversity.

About You

Our ideal deadly candidate will have:

  • Experience in creating and implementing strategies across the public or private sector focusing on Aboriginal employee experience outcomes and integrating these processes into core business operations at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to work with Aboriginal people communities and organisations with strong crosscultural communication skills and understanding of Aboriginal issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve common goals.
  • Skilled in achieving results while involving stakeholders encouraging collaboration and providing leadership coordination and reporting.

Essential Requirements

  • Knowledge respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultural issues and extensive Human Resources knowledge and experience in the development implementation and review of Aboriginal employee and talent management strategies policies and procedures.
  • Experience planning coordinating monitoring and reviewing projects and activities related to improving employment cultural safety and retention for Aboriginal employees.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people and communities and building effective relationships
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability to occasionally travel overnight.

This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Antidiscrimination Act 1977 for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

  • Is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and
  • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and
  • Is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
