Job Description
The University of Hartford Hartford Art School invites applications to apply for a fulltime tenure track faculty position in Painting. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and begin in Academic Year 202526.

Responsibilities
We seek an artist demonstrating versatility and proficiency in historical contemporary conceptual and material approaches to painting and drawing. The ideal candidate will employ innovative technically and culturally informed pedagogy. We are looking for a dynamic candidate with a record of nationally recognized professional practice. Collegial and collaborative leadership a commitment to the equitable mentoring of a diverse student body and engaged contribution to the development of curriculum facility and the University environment will be highly valued. The successful applicant will teach three undergraduate courses per semester with a focus on painting and drawing at the firstyear foundations through advanced capstone levels. Oversight of the painting concentration will be expected. There will also be opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies program. An active artistic agenda with peerreviewed exhibitions publications presentations or other accomplishments in painting drawing or related/expanded fields are required for successful tenure and promotion. Service to the department college and university will include advising students recruitment and retention activities and committee assignments. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications To be considered applicants are required to possess an MFA or equivalent experience in painting a minimum of two years collegelevel teaching experience and a professional exhibition record. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching/advising students from BIPOC populations Demonstrated leadership on issues related to social justice equity or diversity in educational settings Research scholarship or professional projects demonstrate awareness of or engagement in social justice concepts or practices Successful teaching in the area of painting at the college level (beyond courses taught as a graduate student) in foundations/first year through advanced/capstone courses Versatility and proficiency in historical contemporary conceptual and material approaches to painting Successful and promising nationally recognized exhibition/professional record and trajectory Leadership or administrative experience aligned with painting concentration oversight/development as well as school and university service Interdisciplinary collaborative and collegial work style Experience or interest in student retention and recruitment activities
