We are seeking a meticulous and adaptable Payroll Accountant to join a missiondriven nonprofit organization in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. This permanent role will be essential for managing payroll processing for a diverse team of 350400 employees including hourly casual and salaried workers many of whom are unionized health care professionals.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Manage fullcycle biweekly payroll processing including time review and entries
- Process payroll for a workforce that includes hourly casual and salaried employees
- Ensure accurate payroll deductions and administration for RRSP pension and other benefits
- Administer benefits and handle new hire setup within the payroll system
- Generate payroll reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate on the upcoming transition to a new efficient payroll software system
- Other related duties and projects as assigned
Skills & Attributes for Success:
- Post secondary education in accounting business administration or other related field
- Completed PCP designation is an asset
- 3 4 years experience processing payroll for large groups 200 employees) ideally in unionized environments
- Dedicated attention to detail with an appreciation for accuracy in payroll
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
- Exceptional problemsolving abilities
