The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient Parts Department. He/She will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures inventory control staff utilization security pricing merchandising displaying and advertising. The Parts Manager must be an investment advisor and profit producer for the department. He/she must work with the Service Manager and other dealership management to achieve goals and perform the duties listed below.

Responsibilities
Oversee all departmental employees and business practices
Present self as a role model demonstrating leadership and commitment to the customer and manufacturer
Hire train motivate counsel and monitor the performance of all Parts Department staff ensuring parts personnel have a thorough understanding of their duties and responsibilities
Maintain efficient and profitable parts operations and inventory control system; develop merchandising and contact systems to aggressively promote sales
Analyze turnover rate and inventory levels; maintain appropriate balance of fast/slow moving parts; accurately use purchase order system
Develop systems and flexible stock ordering procedures to optimize parts inventory; maximize gross profits by effective ordering of parts to insure maximum parts return allowance; and minimize at counter time of Technicians
Must understand and use principles of pricing availability shipping returns and credit policies
Analyze phase in/phase out criteria to maximize fill rate and decrease obsolescence for increased profitability
Supervise inventory; develop procedures for theft control; implement perpetual inventory procedures; and conduct annual inventory count
Maintain efficiency in the layout of the Parts Department by evaluating binning and stocking methods
Possess proficient knowledge of the Dealer Management System and its functionality to ensure efficiency in the Parts Department
Work with Service Manager to ensure proper transfer of parts and communicate critical shortages and back orders
Develop systems for continuous improvement systems for back order control and customer followup
Keep abreast of changes within the parts area; maintain training on an annual basis appropriate to parts operation
Analyze parts sales gross and expenses on a monthly basis & conduct weekly department meeting
Understand and enforce the manufacturers warranty policies and procedures
Serve as a liaison with manufacturer representatives
Attend training classes as directed by management
Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent
Ability to manage Parts Departments
Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills
Two years of supervisory experience
Five years of experience in an automotive Parts Department
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Sales experience preferred
Proficient knowledge of dealerships computer system
